The Blame Game

I can hear Rui fine from my seat in the BQ too - he's alos not shy to give out a bollocking.

Definitely Coady at fault. You can't blame Patricio there for not calling for it - can you really expect a defender to not try and get something on it in that situation. Problem was Coady didn't get enough on it and we have the goal (looks on target though so not an OG). Unlucky for him and it's nowhere near as stupid as Doherty v Leicester but it is still an error as he could have done much better.

Nothing to debate really - He isn't quiet or even just a bit quiet. No opinion there just a bit of fact.

thanks for input guys - impossible to hear over tv viewing -

The save V Chelsea- its a cracker

Hoilets V Cardiff- same place- cant quite get there. Such fine margins!

Just a little further over v Cardiff which makes the difference. Takes a step to his right to see the ball and as he does that, the shot is taken. Doesn't have to do that on the free kick

As I say, fine margins

It's a decent save, but one that had it gone in I'd be blaming him for. The pace and the ball being in play rather than dead from Hoilett means that although he 'could' have saved it, it would have been a worldie and I don't blame him for not doing so.

really unfair to blame Rui for not yelling on that goal. how is he supposed to yell at Coady to move, have him hear, and then take action, between there being a kick on the outside of his box arriving at his face 10 feet later? the ball had been bouncing between players before the shot. been plenty of reasonable criticism for Rui recently but this aint it.

Definitely Coady's fault, but I also say that matter-of-factly and without malice. it happens. not sure what the pushback is for, that's literally what this thread is about!

It looked to me like Coady took full responsibility for his mistake.

yeah he knew the second it left his head too. you can see him almost immediately fall to the floor in exasperation after hitting it.

so happy to see how we carried on with the game from there though. Rui gave him a few sympathetic slaps and onward the team went. :breakdance:

Agreed. I do question some rather strange views you see, particularly in this thread. But the time he’s seen it, called for it... Coady has already made the instinctive decision to stick his head out (which every defender should do). It’s just unlucky.

If you don’t buy a ticket, you can’t win the raffle. We’ve conceded a fair few from the edge of the area this season (some which have carried a fair degree of fortune). Off the top of my head... Leicester, Hudd, Arsenal and Watford. We don’t shoot enough from the edge of the area. Neves hits a few from 40 yards, but sometimes have a go when on the edge of the area when there’s nothing on. It only needs to hit some and you can at worst get a corner. One fell to Vinagre last night. He was about 22 yards out, nothing on, tried to recycle and we lost the ball. Would have been a better outcome if he put it in stands.

Bring back Freddy and Gued!

It's unfortunate for Coady but by definition it's his fault. Cannot believe anyone was seriously comparing that to Doherty vs Leicester though.

Shooting from 40 yards is not the same as 20 [emoji6]. Especially when you have very limited ability. Neves needs to tone down the 40 yarders. 30 fine, beyond that it needs to be something ridiculous

Doesn't help when he is anywhere in the opposition half - the South Bank (& it does seem to come from an element in there) is screaming for him to shoot wherever he is (though he doesn't really need to always do it)

I’ve never understood the “shooot” shout. Especially when they are in the centre circle and it is Willy Boly.

Who seriously stands there shouting “shoooot” on repeat?

Members of the North Bank shouted shooooot to Bennett against Huddersfield, with inevitable consequences.

First goal g Liverpool I struggle to apportion blame. Second goal Ryan Bennett ball watching

First one is blatantly on Neves and less so Boly.

Wouldn't call it ball watching either, Bennett actively leaves it to run through for Patricio, it's poor decision making off the back of terrible awareness.
