The Blame Game

If he doesn't try to win the ball, then some would say " why didn't he put a foot" in or something similar.

FWIW I think Ruben's tackling has been mostly poor this season with or without crediting/blaming him directly for any goals.

The incident with Silva last Saturday is indicative of his tackling technique, really.

He's 21 years old and a player in development which is why Wolves were able to sign such a talent because he needs the minutes on the pitch playing to get better. What you could say about Neves is he never hides when Wolves are on the back foot and studiously does his best to close down space as required.

It's true. Here's the photo.

That's an old photo, neves is wearing puma kit

Blimey things are quite frosty on here. I would look at things a little differently but wouldn't blame Neves for the goal. Is Neves guilty of creating unnecessary pressure on us at times with his tackling including the build up to the Maddison goal, yes. Is he directly culpable for the goal itself, no.

I am sure each situation will be analysed, we have to try and stop other teams breaking away and sometimes you have to give a foul away to do that. At times Neves and others are guilty of making stupid tackles in stupid places that don't need to be made, Nuno has to educate them on where and when.

Neves does need to work on his tackling but at least it shows he is human afterall.

Should Neves just let people go past him then?

This thread is getting angry but fucking hell its funny at times.

It is a team game after all

Maybe I should start a Credit thread so we can praise accordingly

Delighted to have no entries on this thread today and indeed none now for at least two weeks :D

Hopefully none after Burnley as well.

Ruben thanks Patricio for that more like.

Who does he think he is, Carlos Sanchez?

I thought you might still find a way to include Doherty... :)

It was his fault we didn't score more.

Neves marking at the corner when he let the centre half wander past is worthy of a mention in the context that he has done this in other games. Today it didn't cost us a goal. It could or should have.

Yeah that was very poor. I'm not sure why he's marking bigger players though. It should be taken out of his hands.

Woah woah woah, we're not having hypothetical goals in here.

(But no, he can't mark up. Leicester got done with it today with Maddison looking after van Dijk and Firmino so we need to have a look too)

Yeah just a general point. I can't understand why he's been given that role. I'm sure against Everton he was always on the edge of the box for attacking set-pieces.
