Please note that I could quite kill my Wolves bias; we go on an almighty tear in this prediction, winning all but against Middlesbrough (who we draw with).

Did it twice - once got in at 5th with 80points & once out of the playoffs in 8th (but only on goal diff) in 78.

Reality is that you can get any end result you want & none of them will be what happens

It does look like it, usually after 39 games the team in 6th are on 60 points or around there. Ipswich are already on 67 so if things carry on like that we are going to need 80 points despite that not being needed in the last 20 years.

Ohh yeah but i've seen a lot of we won't need this many points because it's never that many but that doesn't take anything into account like the amount of points teams are on at this point. Going back over the last 5/6 years a lot of the 6th placed teams are on 60 points or around there which is 7 points less than the 6th placed team are on now, looking at it will probably mean that to get 6th we will need more than usual.

I'd guess it was still a minority of fans but overall (as usual) they made more noise than the others.

Either way with each of the top 8's upcoming fixtures it just doesn't look like many points will be dropped from here on out.

But are you taking into account the amount of times the top eight seem to be playing against each other in this run-in, which seems a huge number of the fixtures?

Yeah maybe but i doubt it's significantly more than in previous years. Ipswich are the team to beat at the moment as they are in 6th on 67 and they have Bournemouth and us to play out of the top 8. Even if they lose those 2 i would expect them to win 3/4 of the other 5 games and in doing so would get to at least 76. That in itself means we need 77 and thus is more than usual.

I think teams will drop more points than we think they will, myself included as I had us needing 80 points. I think it will be 77/78 at most.
