Summer 2021 transfer window

It's true, but equally he's 21 and has started 10 league games for us ever.

I saw people slagging him off on Sunday. He came on in the 88th minute! It's all quite strange.
Yeah the shtick he gets is really unfair, and without going full Alan, I suspect that the fact he's a young black lad who likes nice threads, a bit of bling and some Instagram attention has got more to do with it than anything we see on the pitch

Raul didn’t have the greatest first 7 or 8 games. Scuff shots, missed headers until he shinned one under the keeper and found his mojo. It’s far too early to write WJ off for me. Watch him score a thunderbastard now!

You were having a go at Raul at the time but pretty much no-one else was?

They're not even in the same ballpark. It's like comparing Steve Bull and Paul McLoughlin.
Yes I did. He needed to pick it as he did not look a 30m striker. And pick it up he did. And that last analogy is bollocks. More like Steve Bull and Steve Kindon.
WJ has strength and hold up play that he has already shown will benefit us in the weeks to come. What we need is an attacking midfielder in closer support so you aren’t just aiming for one person all the time.

No need to get snippy mate, the counter-argument has been done to death too. You can't just be precious about one side of the discussion
Question - if Fabio Silva had 5/6 goals to his name would you still have the same view?

I'm not writing him off. I said based on what I've seen so far and given his age I wouldn't pay £22m for him. Controversial stuff.

Attacking a cross is something you either will or won't do, it seems he won't.
He's nearly scored three times from crosses now tbf!

He should have 5 or 6 goals to his name if he had taken the excellent chances he has missed , and then the point would be moot .

Well Steve Kindon is over a decade before my time so I can't comment, but I suspect that's still a massive drop off in quality.

What is the point in spending big money on players you will never pick unless you have to?

Spend the £22m on someone we would actually pick.

MGW has had around ten times the minutes in a Wolves shirt for people to make their minds up about where his ceiling
On the left or right of a front 3 though rather than in behind the forward(s) which would be his best position and where he played well in a small sample size for Swansea. He might not be up to it, I'm certainly not saying he is, but I'd like to see the evidence one way or another before binning him off

For all we know he might score 3 in his next 3 games and everyone will be raving about him. I doubt he's even finished sorting out his living arrangements never mind playing football, so it's a bit pointless judging what we'll do at the end of the season based on very little game time so far.

We only have 15 league games left. So he's nearly a quarter of the way through his loan spell already.

What if he has 0 or 1 goals at the end of the season but still looks a generally ok footballer?

Has MGW ever had a motm performance in the premier league? He has not kicked on at all hence why he was loaned out. Phil Fodens progress shows what steps we wanted to see from MGW as they were mentioned in the same breath by many, even suggested a full cap for MGW a couple of years ago. Vitinha hasn’t done a lot either but in a shorter time, a bit like going nowhere fast. Personally both need to do more to justify retention next season.
he did have star roles in some games (he was fantastic as a deeper midfield against Spurs, was MOTM further forward against Chelsea and was also very good there against Bournemouth and I think Fulham?).
But we've changed systems a few times now and it never seems to suit him. Nuno has stopped trusting him alongside Moutinho/Neves (weird as he did so well there as an 18/19 year old) and hasn't played him as a ten in the 4231.

Comparing him to Foden while logical is also a little harsh. Foden has been THE man since he was about 15, only Sancho and Hudson-Odoi were comparable for what was expected. Gibbs-White has always been a little lower down than him anyway.

So has Fabio, and we already own him.
That isn't anything to do with my reply though, I just meant you said that he doesn't attack crosses - whether we should sign him or not I think that isn't true at all

Smith Rowe and Hudson-Odoi are only now getting their first runs in the team, the first because Arteta got forced into it and the latter because of a change in manager.
