Makes sense for Norris on a personal level. Only had one year left on his deal here, wasn't even going to get cup games. Very unlikely we'd have handed out another contract. So unless he got another loan (and it didn't go fantastically last year), his stock's going to drop even further, suddenly you're a keeper in your late 20s who's hardly played in years and now you don't have a job.
This way he has the security of another three years at a steady club, guaranteed.
Had he done well at Ipswich then he could have started looking at Championship clubs where he might be first choice, but it didn't happen. From the outside looking in, while he made a few errors, it seems Lambert messing around with keepers didn't help at all. Plus I doubt Norris went to a L1 club thinking he'd spend the first three months or so of the season sat on the bench, he would have gone there to start.
Bit odd that Burnley have gone for him but realistically when does your third choice keeper ever play. We had Burgoyne getting a few games in 2016/17, there won't be many other occasions we've had to go down that road in the last 30 years. They're just getting a guy who's been around a Premier League squad for a low fee and probably low wages. Joe Hart played 0 league games for them last season, think how much they're saving there on someone who'll have about the same impact.
