Summer 2020 Transfer Window (Extended Version)

Reflected in the photo., innit.

"Okay, Will, for this one, we want you to look like you're in prison".

At this point I trust in Nuno and our scouting to find a player and character that fits our team.

Forget their goalscoring record. Look at how many Jimenez had scored before he came here.

I like the look of Vinicius but it depends on how much he'd cost purely to be backup.

You won’t find me moaning about Paulinho. ANY striker to help Raul with the workload is an improvement, so if the scouts and Nuno are happy with what they’ve seen, get him in. Especially for £15-20m, which is nothing in today’s market. We all know how difficult it is to get someone to come in knowing they’ll be back up.

Re; Norris. Thanks for the memories Big Will. The talent is there, but you won’t get to show it sitting on the bench at Burnley. Odd move all around!

I think most people will trust our scouting team with whoever we bring in. Doesn’t mean people won’t have their own views on targets in advance though.

Norris will be third choice at Burnley. Maybe his experience at Ipswich has put him off playing.

Makes sense for Norris on a personal level. Only had one year left on his deal here, wasn't even going to get cup games. Very unlikely we'd have handed out another contract. So unless he got another loan (and it didn't go fantastically last year), his stock's going to drop even further, suddenly you're a keeper in your late 20s who's hardly played in years and now you don't have a job.

This way he has the security of another three years at a steady club, guaranteed.

Had he done well at Ipswich then he could have started looking at Championship clubs where he might be first choice, but it didn't happen. From the outside looking in, while he made a few errors, it seems Lambert messing around with keepers didn't help at all. Plus I doubt Norris went to a L1 club thinking he'd spend the first three months or so of the season sat on the bench, he would have gone there to start.

Bit odd that Burnley have gone for him but realistically when does your third choice keeper ever play. We had Burgoyne getting a few games in 2016/17, there won't be many other occasions we've had to go down that road in the last 30 years. They're just getting a guy who's been around a Premier League squad for a low fee and probably low wages. Joe Hart played 0 league games for them last season, think how much they're saving there on someone who'll have about the same impact.

Didn't you just rule out Thomas Lemar because of his goalscoring record?

That and the fact he cost £70m.

A poor goalscoring record is one thing, not a single goal/assist in an entire season for an attacking player is another thing. That's bordering on Jesse Lingard levels.

He was always going to be a weird fit in Simeone's system; it clearly hasn't worked for him.

We wouldn't have to pay nearly what Atletico did if we wanted him. He's a fantastic footballer.

I seriously doubt they'd accept a huge loss after just one season, so they'll just keep him unless they get close to their money back.

He's been there for two years.

Ok. Point still stands though I reckon.

Was Lemars best football not played out wide though? I know people will say he 'can' play attacking midfield centrally but if that's not his position or his game then it seems pointless and you may as well sign a player who specifically plays that position.

Ive thought the same when people have mentioned Eze, he is obviously a very talented player but we very rarely use a 10, we don't need another wide player and he's not a CM even in a 3 so he doesn't really fit.

I will never forget how annoyed he was because him and kilman spent ages waiting to come on and then he blew the final whistle immediately :icon_lol:

Classic Nuno. Wants to try and give them an appearance without quite giving them anything to do. As seen with Jordao against Palace

Paulinho looks OK, but I hope it's to challenge Raul rather than potentially replace! After last summer's duds I don't think we can be quite as blasé about 'trusting Nuno and the team', they can make mistakes too
