We can sign players now though and register them but can't play them in any League or Euro comp.

You can sign now, official from the beginning of July. Closing date not yet confirmed, but rumoured to be Oct 4th. Can't play until next season

Nope, Brooks for me as either the 3rd midfielder or a wide player

We don't need another wide player though and in any case I think Brooks is best as a 10. Good player but it's how they fit as well and not sure he'd fit how we play.
