Snooker

Fucking hell Ron. What a shot to play.

Barry H or Ding from here I reckon.

Thought Hawkins played good defensive shots generally, even game though and that last frame was tactical until Ron's mistake..Hawkins means business though and looks very solid

Eight centuries in the Ding vs McManus match so far which equals the Crucible record and there's still a session to go. 9-7 Ding which is a lot closer than it looked like being yesterday afternoon.

2 sessions to go in that match - first to 17 wins. Great fightback from McManus winning the last 4 frames after the break

McManus has rolled back the years in this tournament. He was not expected to advance very far, but who knows what will happen?

Marco Fu hauling himself back into the match and his tip falls off when chalking his cue mid-break. Horrendous luck.

Ding's on for a 147 here.

But he leaves the last black too thin and overcuts it.

Lost it 2-3 reds before that, he was never in good position after that.

Selby v Ding in the final. I would imagine that Selby will be clear favourite

Not really. Selby was very lucky to get through. Ding has been the better player of the two all tournament and he deserves to win it.

Selby is the world number one, so I presume if he plays as he can, then he will win. Though I hasten to add that snooker is not my strongest subject...

Ding is good enough in his own right to be world number one, that's the thing. He just had a really poor 18 months and slipped down the rankings.

Think about it like tennis - if Djokovic draws Nadal at the French Open, of course Novak is world number one and you probably would make him favourite, but not by much.

Ding wins the last 2 frames (with a bit of help from Selby) - hopefully the start of a comeback & possibility of a closer game
