Mastermind

  1. Films of Arnold Schwarzenegger from the 80's
  2. Jack Reacher novels
  3. Post war European football Tactics
I reckon I'd get at least 5 in every category, not disgraceful.
I’ve read all the Reacher books, at least until his brother (?) got involved. After a while try all blur into one.

They're pretty simplistic fluff which is why I like them...

I like the Rebus novels but balls to remembering all the parts of those plots.

I've got every Rebus book but some of them I wouldn't have read for 15-20 years properly. I'd need to properly revise for the intricate detail.

You ideally want stuff you can just reel off. I'm confident if you give me opponent and season (league only) I can give you every Wolves score from August 1994 onwards without looking. When I do it on the build up threads it's all off memory. I use it as practice as well as info for you good folk, keeps the brain ticking over...

Don't think there's any subject I could just reel off any more, maybe 25 years ago, I'd have to swot up on all my subjects.
I'm one of those irritating people in quizes that always says, "wait, I know this one" only to not be able to recall it.

Years and years ago, @Kenny said people should test me on this kind of stuff in the pub and take my phone off me.

18 years later, he knows full well that yeah, annoyingly he does just know. To the point now that I think if we're sat together and someone asks something, he audibly groans. Don't fucking start him off...

I would have said Peep Show, but it was on the other week and I only got about 5 right 🙄

You piss kidney.

I don't how niche they'd go though? Like I couldn't tell you much about the writers or the actual locations.

FFS!

I'm often actually better at many 80's and 90's results than I am the last ten years, but your recall is unbelievable.

Have you ever been to Frankfurt-Hahn :D

I have. Fortunately I wasn't going to Frankfurt afterwards.

Won’t hear a bad word said against Frankfurt-Hahn. Starting point for one of the greatest road trips it’s possible to have.

Get a 50 quid flight and pick up a hire car then drive the Mosel from Trier to Koblenz, stopping overnight in Cochem (my favourite place on the entire planet).

Oh, and don’t forget to take the hire car around the Nurburgring nordschleife before dropping it off because that is the most fun thing you can do with your clothes on.

Ok it might be fucking miles from Frankfurt but with all of that on its doorstep it’s worth forgiving.

I used to work in Trier (expensive and a little posh!) Stayed in my managers house in Wasserliesch, but later when my 2nd marriage was reaching its sell by date, I took my kids (Dublin Drummer being one of them) on a trip around Europe in my jeep. We went down the Mosel through Koblenz, lovely vineyards with the railway on the far side of the river and stopped for B&B just opposite a castle, woke up, breakfast then drove to the nearest leisure area and played football for an hour. Same thing every day. Brilliant. Germany, Austria, Italy Germany, Belgium. Fucking great time....

To be honest when we are sat in a bar talking shite at 3am you could make it up for all I know. I don't fact check after numerous JD's and won't remember what you said a few hours later.

But you do have a ridiculous holding memory. It's actually impressive even if the subject matter is only a shite football team.

You forgot Luxembourg!

That was such a good trip, we did it twice!
Next time we go, we will drive you

The Mosel, Ardennes, Rhine are all fabulous areas to drive/ride through, then motor on down to Bavaria and Black Forest, then just keep going through the Alps.

After reading a good few of the early rebus books many years ago, during the first lockdown read all the rebus books in order 1 after the other, was a fucking joy during that miserable period.
During the second lockdown read whatever reacher books that I had previously missed, mindless entertaining stuff but would agree with tredders have gone downhill since the brother got involved.
Also read all john Connelly books in order during that lockdown bit of a mindfuck (probably too many gruesome weird deaths in one go).

Would take on anybody regarding wolves late 80's lower division stuff, 1980's FA Cup finals, European Cup Finals etc (even watching ITV4 on a Saturday morning can remember some of those games/results from 1st showing).
Dunno what happened around 1990 probably too much drink, drugs and knocks to the head all blends into one after thst.

Going down the route of things I've watched over and over too many times:

Harry Potter films
Inbetweeners
Gavin and Stacey
Peep Show
Only Fools

Nothing intellectual of course...

Specimen Angling
Freshwater fish of the UK
Drop the Dead Donkey

The latter would need some revision as not watched it for a long time.

The Belgariad books by David Eddings would be one specialist subject for me. God knows about the other two. Possibly Ayrton Senna and The Omen movies.

Went to a wedding a couple of years ago at Bad Teinach, about 50km west of Stuttgart, absolutely stunning place, every corner you turned the scenery looked like the front of a chocolate box
