QPR 2 - 1 Wolves: verdict thread

Charming.

So "someone who can attack a ball when we are chasing a game"?

Lambert

Only had the pleasure of WM and the Sky highlights. We need an out and out target man in the squad as an option when Bonatini goes off, to give us that alternative, not a lump like Smith but someone who can attack a ball when we are chasing a game. Boly for Miranda from now on, when teams take the game to us he gets bullied in the air, Ruddy still in credit, but not many mistakes left before he isn't, Vinagre for Douglas on Tuesday as well. I would have been happy with 5 points from these 3 games, but 6 now looks a steep task.

Jordan Hugill?

We absolutely don't need a target man at all. That isn't the way we play at all. Ridiculous. Are you Lambert in disguise?

He's right though, we don't have anything even remotely resembling a focal point other than Leo and he can't play every minute of every game.

Whenever we leave him out or take him off then we are really limited in how we can play. It has to be some form of a physical presence up there, the system demands it.

If you want to take the holier then thou ground then fine, but it was Nuno that took Bonatini off today and his team that then chased the game by throwing high balls into the box at the end of the game. If you are going to do that then it seems to make sense to me to have a player on the pitch who's suited to it. As I said in my post, not just a lump like Smith, but you two carrying on amusing yourselves in your comfortable smugness.

Hang on a minute, I am bloody agreeing with you! A player like Hugill would have helped us today when Leo went off.

Go and have a cold shower or something!

If that's the case then Jinky I apologise, I thought it was a dig based on Paddy calling me Lambert and who he wanted to sign in the Summer. I was on holiday last week, so didn't see the Preston game other than the goals, was he impressive?

And I am not being comfortably smug.

Why are you being so confrontational tonight?

You called my comment ridiculous and asked if I'm Paul Lambert, I think I'm entitled to respond to that strongly..apologies for telling you to fuck off though, that was OTT

No harm done. People don't like the link to Hugill because he doesn't have an exotic foreign name and he plays for Preston - but he would certainly offer us a different option up top when Leo isn't on the pitch. I think he's a lot better than people give him credit for, but perhaps we can shop in a different supermarket these days. Definitely need another option through the middle for me.

Hugill is fucking toss, I don't want him.

Ah - not to worry, and nothing to apologise for at all.

Lambert was a little dig really so I will apologise back for that and hopefully everything is roses.

I can't remember the high balls into the box at the end except for a corner and free kick where that sorta thing kinda happens.

Did notice that we did away with that new fangled 2man corner thing though.

other findings......
we are shocking at dead ball situations and Jota "fell" a good few times today.

We've all been taken in by radio commentary versus reality before so I will cautiously say, but there were at least 2 by Douglas and one by Bright in the last 5 minutes that would be described as 'putting in the mixer' rather than threaded balls.

Back on the train - having left Mike & Gerry with their new friends.

Disappointing game which we still had enough chances before their winner. Back 3 did OK but forward line not firing properly.

Crap stadium as well.

The Hugill ship has probably sailed, but he'd have done a better job than Bright today.

Probably by definition as Bright isn't really a centre forward.

However Hugill's mooted value of £2m that we were rumoured to be in for in January 2017 - I'd still be dubious about paying that. He is seriously not very good, he's just a barrel. Preston want about 5x that now so absolutely no way.

Taking Leo off was a poor decision. I wanted Bright on at some point but I would have taken Saiss off instead, who was in full "dither with the ball" mode today.

That was very much the case today, though Ruddy did try a couple of high balls up to Bright, before realising he wasn't going to get much change out of a dfender about a foot taller than him. On the other hand I can't see Hugill covering left back life Bonatoni did a couple of times in the first half.

Not our day today, possibly a case of after the Lord Mayors show.

We move on and prepare for three points at Carrow Road.
