Pre-season friendly thread

otasowie looks more like a distance runner than a football player to me

We've created 4 or 5 good openings, they've made some really good blocks in fairness.

I know people say one of Lage's strengths is working with young players but none of these under 23 players look anywhere near the first team.

otasowie lucky there

Been okay for me. Interesting to see the clear difference in mentality. First half Hoever gave the ball away wide and pressed the Crewe player into the area. It looks like wingbacks rather than fullbacks despite the back 4. wingers tucked in with the WBs taking the space.

Great to see Raul, Silva looks to have increased his physique although still would want a much quicker striker for the two up top.

Harsh maybe but I wanted an upgrade on Ruddy at the 2 spot if a keeper was available on a free, and this game hasn't changed that. First half he caused 3 bits of worry with his clipped or poor passing to players either out wide of Cutrone through the middle.

Ruddy is not fit for purpose I said it when he signed the contract, if we have to use him for any kind of run of games we are in big trouble.

Was roughly making a less consise version of this above as he was doing what he was doing. Really need Sa to be good!

Few things from me.

- like the look of OO. He’s still very raw, but with training he could be a monster. He’s literally twice the size of some of the other players!
- Cutrone is not a footballer. How he was ever described as “the next great Italy striker”, I will never know. I’ve got better technique
- none of the youngsters are anywhere near the first team. Jack Scott probably the pick at right back, but realistically, you can see why we keep signing “players for the under 23’s/under 21’s”, as none of them are bothering the first team squad
- let’s hope Jose Sa has a great fitness record, because we don’t want to be relying on John Ruddy
- Lage has a lot of work to do on the training field. In the PL, we’ll get torn apart on the break, playing like this. However, obviously we’ve got about 85% of the first team squad to come back.
- am I reading too much in to things to say he doesn’t fancy Saiss much? That was a late change.

Great to see Raul back.

I mean, it doesn't matter.

But the ref blowing 10 seconds prior to 90 mins when the ball is in the area at Samuels feet is fucking bizarre.

didnt expect us to lose this game to crewe but whatever, always the same shit in pre-season games

Disappointing second half until the last 10.

Proper bits and pieces team, e.g. Estrada is a CB by trade.
