Pre-Season 2017

Don't think even Zyro thought he was onside!

"Nuno give us a wave" from the crowd

"Nuno give us a interview" from Tim II

Permission to get excited? That was a very good team performance.

Great win and performance against a strong Leicester side!!! :)

Looked like Batth was having to educate a few players to applaud the crowd at the end!

Say it quietly. We look a bit good. We have a system, pattern and look a threat. Clean sheet too, Coady looked good, Ruddy looks controlling, Cav strike awesome. No say it quietly. We do look a bit handy!

Full time - a 1 - 0 win

Decent performance overall - still lacking something in the opposition 18yrd box, but we knew that was the case anyway

Solid at the back - decent passing in midfield. Have some hope for success this time

Thanks for the Youtube link - saw last 20 minutes. I know it's a friendly but we looked so good. Almost like we know what we're doing!

Thank you to LCFC for the live feed - despite the weird double commentary at times was good to be able to watch that

Good game that I really enjoyed it, some lovely passing football and an absolute corker of a goal from Cav. Players ready in space to receive the ball and a clear direction from the manager, we will do alright judging on this. Only really a decent striker missing from a side that should be right up there this year.

Ruddy 7 - Relatively untested however came to claim a few crosses and was very quick off his line to a through ball.
Miranda 7 - Quality on the ball and makes the game look easy a huge step up from last season
Coady 8 - Made a crucial clearance off the line and looks every part the captain we though he might be, mopped up several times and played us out of trouble.
Boly 8 - Hes a beast, wins tackles when hes not the favourite, great in the air and looks quick.
Doc 7 - A good game should have scored but didn't have confidence with his left foot. Much better at RWB.
Douglas 9 - MOTM Didnt put a foot wrong, great going forward and linked nicely with Jota. Brilliant signing from what I have seen so far.
Neves 8 - Keeps us ticking over and some of his passing is incredible, looks assured and every bit the midfielder we hoped for.
Saiss 7 - One or 2 dodgy passes but overall looked good alongside Neves, is looking to put the IF through whenever possible.
Bright 6 - So much potential and a few good moments, should have scored. Lacks the decision making to be a regular first teamer at the moment. I would like to see him go on loan when we get a striker in.
Cav 8 - What a goal!!! I mean you will struggle to see a better goal this season curled effortlessly into the corner. Other than that was very lively and looks like he will be a big player for us this year.
Jota 8 - Carried the ball very Costa like for the Cav goal and looks to have insane dribbling skills. Took a while to get into the game but I can't wait to see more of this lad.

I wont bother with subs needless to say our passing dropped a bit as we changed the midfield Ronan had a nice chance right at the end and Graham put one gorgeous cross in. Zyro also hit the post.

My worry leading into the season is how we will break teams down that sit back. Leicester came to play and quite honestly we were comfortably the better side, that gives me encouragement.

Good performance, very encouraging. Some of the football being played was of a very high standard.

Still only a friendly though but the signs look good

Very encouraging performance from us. Some great passing and link up play. Get a good striker and Costa back fit and we are set IMO.

Working with a load of Leicester fans I'm looking forward to being Smuggy McSmug on Monday!

Now that is something i've wanted to see in my 20 odd years of supporting Wolves. Yes it was only a friendly but if it all goes tits up i will remember the day when we looked like a side with a plan and everyone knew what their job was. We actually have real football tactics and ones that involve playing football, it's brilliant. Apart from when Vardy got away once we looked solid and Ruddy should have been out much quicker and got there before him. If this is a sign of what's to come then this season is going to be good, we're possibly a striker away from promotion.

Atmosphere was decent in the Southbank for a friendly too and i can't wait for the noise that a full house makes next week.

Players:-

Ruddy - Apart from when he was too slow to come and Vardy went past him he was solid and he kicks so well especially when we've been watching the likes of Lonergan/Ikeme/Burgoyne. I think he will be a good signing.

Miranda - Don't think he made a mistake, looks solid and can pass it out from the back. A lot bigger presence than he looks to and left his mark on Slimani.

Coady - He was first class. The block on the line looked impossible but that wasn't that impressive when compared to the rest of his play. Organised, directed, bossed the game from centre back. Vardy got in once but Coady had him in his back pocket for the rest of the game and he looked comfortable on the ball and got us playing. I wasn't sure about him at centre back and he could struggle if a side stick a big lad on him but hard not to be impressed today.

Boly - Absolute man mountain and seems to glide across the ground and will be so hard to beat. Looks a great signing and could see him becoming a crowd favourite.

Doherty - Played ok at right wing back but i think it shows we need someone else. Several times we played some fantastic football and then it got to Doc who put in a poor cross or played a poor pass. Should have scored and i think looked better getting forward once he switched sides but he ain't getting in front of Baz.

Douglas - What a difference a left back makes. Looks comfortable going forward and defensively. Won a number of headers despite not being the biggest and he can't half cross. If we find a striker that gets into the box he could have a hat full. Going to be a key player and looks snip at £1 million.

Neves - Rolls Royce footballer. Just makes it look so easy and i'd hate to be in a midfield having to play against him. Sprays passes for fun, Intercepts well and not afraid to tackle. Every bit a £15 million pound footballer imo.

Saiss - Neves will get the headlines because he'e Neves but Saiss was just as good if not better today. He made the game look so easy and barely gave the ball away if he did at all. No idea what happened at Shrewsbury but this was the Saiss we need. Picks out forward passes for fun when he has players to pass to. First choice next to Neves for me all day long.

Bright - Fuck sending him out on loan. He might be frustrating but the boy can't half play. He's so good technically and once he's got a bit more experience he could be some footballer. He didn't look out of place at all and makes players look silly with some of the things he does. Once he gets a goal it could make a massive difference to the quickness of his decision making as he won't be so apprehensive. Honestly could watch him play all day and i'm fascinated to see whether he can become the player he could be.

Cav - Actually lead the line quite well and gave Morgan in particular a lot to think about. Won headers and put them under pressure while being a little sloppy in possession and then bang. What a striker and as soon as he hit it you knew it was in, could be a big season for him.

Jota- Grew in to the game and great composure to play the ball to Cav at the right time. Couple of decent shots half blocked and will cause defences in this league problems. One very good sign was when Maguire absolutely hammered him he got up dusted himself off and got on with it, for all that it was a shocking challenge.

SUBS - The subs obviously changed the game and Leicester got hold of the ball more in midfield for a while. Edwards seemed to be running all over the place and left gaps between him and Price and Zyro looked a touch off it. Graham looked good again though, he whipped in one great ball that Ronan slightly miscontrolled when he was in a great position.

I can't wait for the season to begin now because the signs are good. It's not going to be easy but we have some ridiculously talented players and if we click we could do some serious damage to sides. One top striker and i think we could well be right at the top.

Agree with a lot of that.

The only bit that worried me with Coady was how he got caught under the ball which let Vardy in (poor from Ruddy too). Great clearance to make up for it but this was the case against Shrewsbury too. Good performance overall from him like you I was impressed

Also agree on bright. I don't think there is much to gain from him going on loan, largely due to his character and previous supposed off field antics (likes a party apparently) I'd worry a loan would disrupt his development especially mentally. I think Nuno rates him though and I see him as a first team squad member and it's his job to stake a claim for a starting role. Which he did wel today.

There was no-one near Okazaki when the ball dropped to him for an overhead either. Small criticisms though.

Don't think it was his fault to be honest, we got caught out of shape and Vardy got in space between Coady and Miranda. Ruddy was in a poor position and was very slow coming out but was much better after.

I said Miranda didn't make a mistake but he did and this was it. He misjudged the cross that came in, rushed towards it and got caught under it leaving Okazaki free.

I dont think Bright is ready for the first team yet, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions..I will be happy being wrong though...

Regular games on loan would help with his decision making. You can't really teach that.
