Podcasts

Read about this in the paper the other day - need to give it a listen. Have been making my way through Jon Ronson's new podcast and that touches on QAnon (and I still very much recommend finding Q above too)

Will listening to pods about QAnon just make me more furious with how nuts people can be? I'm gonna listen to the BBC one (which one is the one you mention Tredman?) - but would like to be mentally prepared for it!

Yep, pretty much. Though I think its always good to try and understanding people's motives and the Finding Q podcast is good at that.

This is the one I started with:
Needs an audible subscription (they have tons of free offers though).

I think that's all they can do, I was watching a piece on Facebook about Alex Jones in Texas and I truly understand why they have the death penalty

This is a podcast as well as a YouTube channel so I think it qualifies to be here.

Lex Fridman has some fascinating guests on his podcast. I find him a great interviewer as he's incredibly intelligent himself so understands alot of the concepts more than a presenter on TV would.

Not sure what I think of Elon Musk as a person but I found this discussion absolutely fascinating, he's obviously a genius, probably on a par with Da Vinci when you consider the breadth of disciplines he's involved with.

Found his explanation of money as a database particularly interesting on this one. We really are so lucky nowadays that we can listen to long form conversations with the most interesting people of the time, historians jobs will be alot easier in the future.

My sister helps run a podcast about unsolved mysteries and one of her co-hosts is from the West Midlands, apparently (near Worcester I think?). He definitely mentions that his brother lives near the Worcestershire Sauce factory.

No pressure on anyone of course! More for comedy than for actually solving things, but I like 'em (biased by my sister's presence, obv). They work very hard on it! (I'd recommend starting with the eps on the Dyatlov Pass incident). Or the Jan 10th ep about Vasili Arkhipov!

I am half way though this and it is excellent.

I was slightly concerned that listening to it might send me down a rabbit hole but it turns out I'm not bat shit crazy :) It is astounding (and a little frightening) how the whole theory managed to gain it's way into the mainstream although I suspect plenty of Q followers don't actually believe it (surely they can't??) they just use it as a way to attack the Clinton's/Democrats and promote Trump.

I am very much looking forward to listening to the last 4 episodes and will also have to check out the QAnon podcast that Tredman mentioned.

Just seen that!

Might have to relisten to Serial. I think there was a documentary about it too actually which I never got round to listening to

New Season one ep out:

For a while now I've been listening to CASEFILE.
It's narrated by an Australian guy but if you can get over the accent it's very good.
Some could be distressing if you have young kids but mainly it's detailed enough to give you a complete picture of what happened but not enough detail to become smutty.
They come out every Saturday, but if you subscribe (for free) you can access #1. Each one is around 1 hour maybe more, and a few are split up into parts, like one Australian story went to 5 x 1 hour sessions.
They cover Murders or Crime all over the place, Australia (Many), USA (Many), UK (a good few, including the Midlands, West Mids and Manchester (even Stockport, an address about a mile from where I used to live!) to across Europe.
Brilliant for walking the dog or driving.
You can hit 'See all episodes' and choose. they're up to Case 223 at the moment.
If you do try them out, just a heads up, Avoid cases 1 -30. He was just getting going and hadn't quite developed his style or speed, so they're not great, but any after 40-50 are excellent.

This looks good

Not sure if these have been posted on here but nevertheless:
For all the history boffs like me:
Real Dictators
History Hit
Going Medieval
All on spotify very good listening and well put together.

Football Cliches podcast has moved to goalhanger which is a relief because I was worried it wasn’t coming back!

Hopefully as they're moving that means they'll be keeping the team together since David Walker left the Athletic last year.

*Confirmed the same team on Adam Hurrey's twitter so excellent news.*
