O'Neil Confirmed

I think the argument over whether the regression has been perfectly linear is a pointless semantic. The actual point being that we've been irredeemably wank for most of the last three league games, two of which were against terrible teams

Hobbs is as naive as GON. He's learning a very hard lesson right now.
Well Hobbs was just an academy scout not so long ago. His rise to chief Scout and then Sporting director has been pretty rapid. He’s just as inexperienced (doesn’t mean rubbish).

Hobbs is one of the few that seems to have a clue what he's doing.

We need shot of GON though, the sooner the better.

So how does he have a clue if you think he should sack GON, who he apppinted 3-4 weeks ago already?
Because it's unrealistic to expect someone to get every decision correct. As i said, he's one of the few who've got some decisions correct.

50,000 wolves fans could have told him it was the wrong decision and i don’t think there’s a single one of them that would have thought a 3-year contract was a good idea.

Question is was anyone hugely surprised with what happened second half? No me neither and that’s the sad thing about this. Jolly good efforts in the first half and being better for periods are a waste of time if you keep coming out with nothing.
It’s the same as saying after the Man Utd game “if we play like that against lesser sides we’ll be fine” well today was a lesser side and we failed.
The form tap doesn’t get turned on once the opposition gets weaker in fact the more you keep being beaten by better sides the more the confidence is zapped.

Having watched a couple of Sheff Utd and Luton games i am not sure where the confidence we will beat them is coming from that people seem so certain, at least currently I'd not put more on that as a sure thing.

Both of them and there fans will be seeing us as a chance for points. Hamer and Archer look decent signings, and I mentioned in the match day thread that Luton play a style I would expect to expose our CBs if we let them. West Ham ultimately nearly succumed to it despite some patches of dominance.

Again, I'm not disagreeing with the idea that GON was a rubbish appointment.

My prediction is he gets sacked after Newcastle thump us on the 27th of October. At absolute best I could see us scraping 4 points between now and then

I wanted Potter when JL left but apparently his Chelsea compo may be linked to being out of work which could be why he was not interested.

Think everyone was on the side of this is probably not going to go well to varying degrees but biggest thing for me after just 4 league games is I can’t see a style of play. All good managers have a style that you can clearly see and we don’t have one. No patterns to play from the back even though we keep trying, no players on the pitch for 80 minutes that really want the ball clipped to them which we inevitably end up doing when we can’t get out. Big 2 weeks for GO, has to try to identify a style even with some of the team gone and hope it works. Odds would probably say this doesn’t happen and we’ll appoint a more experienced manager in 6/7 games but whoever it is i just want to see a style of play at this point. Any style at this moment just one that’s noticeable, don’t understand how coaches/managers get to this level and don’t have a style of play.

The tactics, subs were bad enough, we also seemed to lack energy for much of the game, but what concerned me most is his post match comments, it's early days but he already looks miles out of his depth.

He is a stat obsessed tactical pygmy who shut up shop for a point against a shit team and failed to even achieve that.

I’m so glad we got into their tactical third a lot. Trouble is most of what we created we utterly wasted and our defence is a fucking bomb scare led by a coward. I don’t need stats to see that.

A very dangerous assumption imo. Our squad is better yes
I'd add Bournemouth in there and maybe Fulham. If we were run competently we wouldn't be in this situation in first place, but being amongst 6-7 relegation candidates with one of the best squads should at least mean we aren't relegation favourites...for now. It just means all those games against those teams are must win.
