New - The things that really annoy you

Oh and they’re going to increase ticket prices next year because they’re running such an effective, brilliant railway🙈

Yes that's right, but the public has to realise that we need to continue to grow the railway, we need to keep reinvesting in it.
(and be able to overpay sub contractors as and when...) (And don't forget our bonuses and salaries.

An Post. The Irish equivalent of Royal Mail. THE National postal service.

I bought a parcel of goodies for my wife on 19th December, well inside the delivery deadline. It's 35 miles away.

When I contacted them just now, they said "the County was missing from the address."
"But the Eircode (uk postcode) was on it!"
"Yes it is, but don't use the eircode!"

Couriers do and it works brilliantly, but fucking an Post don't then subject customers to the shit you see above!
Grrrr!!

A Christmas card I sent 1st class two weeks ago has finally arrived today. Two weeks Wolverhampton to Chesterfield, I could have walked it there quicker.

Had cards arrive today, Inc 2 we ordered from Moonpig to send on...

A bit of chatter that after the strikes on the 15th/16th Royal Mail made some executive decisions to make sorting our normal post a secondary concern and make parcels the priority. A decision made to try and get the public against the strikes when cards etc arrive late.

Not going to moan though...my postie has my support (especially as it looks like he needs a payrise so he can afford to buy some trousers. Working in shorts when its minus 5)

I posted two at the same time. The other to the Manchester area and that arrived on the 22nd, so very much seems to depend on regional sorting.

From October to February Posties at their sorting office chuck in 50p a week into a pot, last one wearing shorts wins the money, or it gets divided out between all of them if no one wins
Two mates working as posties confirm this.

It’s not chatter, it’s fact. Small parcels are currently the ones being neglected as the lack of letter post was getting noticed by the media.

Posties & delivery drivers hopping in & out of vans all day wear shorts, even in cold weather to prevent trousers rubbing their legs/knees apparently. The constant rising of the trousers chafes.

I hadn't read enough on it to be confident it was fact. So tried to dodge being ITK

Also heard some do it due to rain, walking round with baggy wet shorts isn't as uncomfortable as wet trousers clinging all the way down your legs, and they'll dry quicker if the weather improves.

Who honestly likes wearing trousers. I avoid them at all costs. Certainly wouldn’t walk the dog in them. It’s shorts or trackies, but I’m assuming trackies aren’t part of the the RM uniform.

Trackies 'cause I'm a fat f#cker, but I have to wear trousers for work, cannot wear shorts as my legs are a white colour not available on any spectrum

I don't own any trackies but surely they're just trousers by another name?

Trackies? That like sweatpants?

I'll make every thread about UK vs. US English if it's the last thing I ever do.
