New - The things that really annoy you

Fucking hell Paddy, you can actually shag a beetroot!!??
How big are the beetroots round where you live?
or alternately, how sm.....

Actually here's another nice little swerve from the normal stuff,
Thick slice of home made (or a shop bought Brown seeded loaf) Toasted with two lovely soft eggs on it with a decent splash of dark soy sauce....
But the beans with a spoonful of Tandoori Curry powder thrown in would beat that.

Absolutely! Go and do it, unless you feel you're in love with your new job.
Name your price.
If my wife handed her notice in, or told her directors she'd been headhunted, after they'd changed their underwear, they'd have a rapid meeting then throw money at her. They know it'd take at least 2 new recruits to replace her.
Go name your price Mark, see where it leads...
Is it more or less convenient than the one you have now?

It would be slightly more convenient than where I am now but also less varied so higher risk of becoming bored or stuck down a particular path.

If it had come up last year before I moved or if I'd been here a few years then I'd be more tempted to look into it but wouldn't really want the quick turn around on my CV without a big reason to justify it.

Estate agents and my commute to new job.

Booked a viewing for a flat closer to my new job, they sent the confirmation for Monday 29th and a map with a different address for a flat, phoned them to check the address and were you doing viewing on a bank holiday? Office said “ oh that flat went 10 days ago” I’d booked the viewing 2 days ago, and no they don’t do viewing on a bank holiday.
I’d have been standing outside a flat looking shifty, waiting for no one to turn up, office shut on bank holidays as well.

The commute is going to get boring really quickly,
Leave home 06.15 bike to wolves train station, 07.00 train, change at Galton bridge hopefully get the 07.25 to Olton get to Olton 07.50,( quick 1/2hr nap there) bike 2 mile to work, for 09.00 start, have to leave early just so I can catch the next connection if I miss the first one.

Leave work 18.00 hopefully catch 18.20 from Olton (or 18.37 if I miss it) change Galton bridge, 19.15 train to wolves get in about 19.35 bike back to ashma about 25-30mins coz I’m knackered, back in the house 20.10ish don’t really want to biking be along the canal in the dark in about a month or so

I'd want a damm site more money than that to put up with that commute, must be a hell of a job.

News just in, I’ve quit that job, it was a bike mechanic for 21k around the top end of payscales, you get more for London area and if you work on real top end bikes
Thought I’d give the commute a go while looking for a houseshare or flat nearby, couldn’t really afford it shares were £6-900 a month, flats £7-1200.
The bit that tipped me into fuck this, was last night (Saturday) finished work at 6pm, all trains cancelled until 21.30 ( didn’t fancy the ride from Yardley to Wolverhampton, hadn’t got my wallet to book a hotel) got in the house at 23.20, to leave again this morning at 7

Good man!
Now you need to bully your way into a new job a bit more local... (What the fuck do I know about bike mechanic locations, but you understand my sentiments). Good luck Keef.

Ladders against a wall is fine, climbing up a set of ladders lent up a tree branch takes a different mental ability.

Going up and down them isn't the issue for me, it's trying to do something when I'm up there that becomes an issue. Confidence built up through the weekend though, just figuring out better ways to cling on and ways to carry/hang things up there that I need.

Mark, you need a supply of containers from large ice cream tubs to old plant pots to one of those long plastic window boxes, drill holes in them, thread some of that strong nylon rope through the holes and either carry them up or pull them up once you're up there.
You need to fashion a few hooks like a butchers hook that you can put around the top rung , or hang off a branch and put your paint, paint brushes, tools and general stuff into the handiest tub, so when you're up in your tree ( or wherever) you've got all your screws etc up there with you. I've had a piece of rope tied to the top rung for years now with a metal hook on the end... Perfect!

Booked a nice little romantic mini-break in Venice in November. Cheap flights, nice hotel, sorted.

Easyjet message to say the return flight has been cancelled and we’re offered a different return flight (at a really shitty hour) take it or leave it, money refunded if leaving it.

Go onto Skyscanner to look at alternatives and EasyJet are right now taking bookings for the ‘cancelled flight’ at approximately 3 times the figure we paid originally! I mean, some of the airlines are very adept at sharp practice but surely that can’t even be legal.

Booked returns now with Whizz Air, but honestly, what an absolutely bunch of wankers.

You shouldn't carry things up a ladder though...
