I wonder if the talks are genuine or paper lingo? By that I mean he knows what the offer and conditions will be and there's no way the job isn't his if he wants it, so is it box ticking or does he need persuading?

He annoyed me towards the end, mainly because he was still here, now that hes gone he's irrelevant.

I did find that his parting comment was a bit piss poor. Still rambling on about never loosing with a striker and basically saying he would have got us to 7th given some more time. Perhaps the classy thing to do would be to wish everyone all the best and good luck for the future, not berate his misfortune.

I will be happy when he's a distant memory

He's lining up the ground to take credit for the work of whoever follows him... yeah, sorry Bruno, doesn't work like that.

There weren't really any signs that our fortune was on the upturn with him. He may have been dealt a few injury blows but even with players fit we were pretty turgid.

You can't achieve anything in this league with the players being on board. So much evidence to suggest that they weren't so going on about how he would've had us 7th is just more classless waffling from Lage. Another argument against the 'language barrier' excuse as well, in Portuguese or English it's absolute shite.

Surely he knows the terms etc. So my guess he is coming over to speak with Jeff and its all going to be formal rather than "crunch". Could also be a way of knowing for sure he wants the move.

That or Scott Sellars has to interview him to keep his role relevant...😀

Or we're actually considering multiple candidates like a normal football club and he has to interview for the role... Nah, too far fetched.

Do you remember when there were stories of Zenga heading home for periods during his tenure - not short 1 day trips either , and then wasn't there a story on Sunday/Monday that Lage headed home every weekend .

If Loptegui comes here - will he bring his family I wonder ? What do other foreign based coaches do when they arrive over here ?

Heading home to see family is perfectly understandable - so why is it criticised , or even mentioned......assuming of course that they are all short trips ( away for 36 hours perhaps , something like that ) .

Has Pep his family here.......Klopp ?

It's certainly a factor in how long a Manager will stay if he is constantly away from his family .

Was seeing some comments online last night that Lopetegui wants to take some time out before starting a new job. Obviously being SM I take it all with a large pinch of salt but if true, would we move onto other candidates?

It was a comment from Balague on 5 live.

It does make sense. It would be unusual for a manager to be sacked from one long term role and start another the same week. If he does I hope it's not a mistake

Our problem is we don't have that time.

Jeff would be the one of the last people I would want trying to persuade a person to come to the club.

If he does want a break, then we have to move on to other options. And now.

We aren't in a position to let this drag on. They (Jeff) may think they can let it run and get him in post World Cup, but we really need to start picking up points before then.

If Lopetegui wants a break, then go for somebody else.

Surely they aren't that stupid?
Although whenever I type that Jeff and Scott normally step up to the plate

Meh, I've no issue with him having his own narrative, regardless of how much bollocks it is, he's still got a career and a future to think about, and unless future employers went back and watched the last 20 games he can certainly argue the point, particularly if Costa/Raul start scoring. It's no different to how any of us approach writing CVs and interviews really, you mitigate the failure as out of your control and take full credit for the stuff that went well. He's not the first sacked manager to suggest he's a victim of circumstance rather than just being shit, and he won't be last.

I’d be surprised if it wasn’t a done deal already, based purely on Sevilla needing to have a line under the compensation package before they gave him the tin tack. Surely that’s all brokered already as you can’t have that exposure remaining from their perspective? The logic is all driven by the need for a solution at their end rather than competence at ours.

Lopetegui is older than Bruno and Zenga - I don't think he will have a young family to visit.

That said I think its bonkers anyone contemplates doing a full time job in a different country and commuting to see their family. All in or All out.

If he's flying in, then I'd imagine he's ready to take the job.

I’m guessing crunch talks are £4 million a year and start in a week julen, is that ok?

That's fine and I don't disagree with the sentiment, but save it for the interview not the public goodbye you put on social media, just makes him look bad.

What is starting to get on my tits is the social media campaign trying to compare Larges managerial record with Lopetegui and questioning why we are replacing a manager with one that's been sacked?

I mean if City got rid of Pep would we not take him on?
