Sorry if posted before:

Really interesting read.

Does also reinforce why Nuno was the backup to Lopetegui - so many similarities in tactics and mindset. You'd hope our squad would be a good fit with what he's like, but at the same time you have to imagine he must be cursing his luck to be wanted by yet another team lacking a reliable striker...

If he's looking at the big picture he'll hopefully have Fábio & Raúl + one other (another year for Costa if he performs?) going into next season. This season is just about getting us safe. It'll probably mean a 'return' to pragmatic football in the short term to get points on the board but that's the situation we find ourselves in unfortunately.

He'll have Sasa next season too.

Jacqui Oatley inteviewed on Irish radio (was tuesday night) for about half hour (starts at about 2hrs 28)

In summary basically agrees with this forum on everything! national commentators havent a clue about us and some deals selling club only speak to Mendes and have no direct contact with the club.

Do you remember when there were stories of Zenga heading home for periods during his tenure - not short 1 day trips either , and then wasn't there a story on Sunday/Monday that Lage headed home every weekend .

If Loptegui comes here - will he bring his family I wonder ? What do other foreign based coaches do when they arrive over here ?

Heading home to see family is perfectly understandable - so why is it criticised , or even mentioned......assuming of course that they are all short trips ( away for 36 hours perhaps , something like that ) .

Has Pep his family here.......Klopp ?

It's certainly a factor in how long a Manager will stay if he is constantly away from his family .
Nuno was the same but as he was successful wasnt mentioned, until covid of course when I am sure it was a factor is his downturn as he couldnt see his family for several months.

Nuno had some of his family here. Was it his son who came over with him but then went home when Covid happened.

Going back to Portugal for a couple of days every now and again shouldn't be a problem with Zenga it was go to Dubai at every opportunity

His daughter was at Uni somewhere in the UK

I actually met him on a flight back from Dubai. 2 days before a match IIRC…

It's worse than everyone's and by a mile too.

This was before Saturday:

Turner: W6 D3 L5
Taylor: W4 D4 L6
McGhee: W4 D4 L6
Lee: W3 D4 L7
Jones: W4 D5 L5
Hoddle: W6 D5 L3
McCarthy: W3 D4 L7
Solbakken: W3 D2 L9
Saunders: W5 D1 L8
Jackett: W4 D6 L4
Zenga: W4 D4 L6
Lambert: W7 D2 L5
Nuno: W4 D3 L7
----------------
Lage: W1 D5 L8
It might surprise some people but the much maligned Hoddle has the best record of this bunch.

He's also the only one who didn't get sacked.

Loved a dead rubber win to pad stats did Glenn.

If he needs some time off then maybe he should forget about jetting anywhere, go home to the Basque Country then get the 30 hour ferry from Bilbao. Better for the environment, loads of time to do rock all and, having been on that crossing myself, he'll get off with a renewed thirst for life ashore and a desire never to go back again.
Plymouth to Roscoff was enough for me. 🤮

I'm bored of reading about Lopetegui now, here's something about Pedro Martins...

That article is good.

Exactly the manager we do not need. Somebody who struggles to score or create goals is extremely familiar.

Time to go in a completely different direction.
A new direction is no guarantee. Lage was bought in due to his attacking style and goals scored at Benfica. That worked out well.
