New Manager Search *BACK ON*

A new direction is no guarantee. Lage was bought in due to his attacking style and goals scored at Benfica. That worked out well.
Lage was brought in because he was cheap and had no clout to complain about a neutral/negative net spend.

As stupid an idea as buying a pair of shoes for £5, you'll be buying a new pair very soon.

But Lage's success wasn't built on style it was built around 1 player.

When he went Lage's tactics went to shit.

Edit: To add to this other clubs that have changed style, almost completely in recent times are Liverpool, City, Spurs, Leicester, Brighton, Palace and us under Nuno.

It works out as much as it fails.

There are no guarantees with Loptugei - that's very true . It's the same with any new Manager .
However , I take the view that we have more chance of it working out in our favour when selecting a Manager who has had a fair bit of experience , and success , in more than one League/Country .
He brought Seville to new heights in terms of consistent CL qualification , got them another Europa Cup ( they are pretty good at that one ) , and got them finishing positions in the League never achieved before ( 4th 3 years in a row ) , and also their points total was in those years quite close to 2nd and 3rd .

Emery would also have been an attractive option in my view .

Everyone here who is into footie saying pedro martins is a done deal
They dont rate hiz time at olympiacos that highly though
Here being greece if anyone didnt know

I'd be disappointed if we appointed Martins considering some of the other names linked.

Not that I'd be happy about it but wonder if they'll wait for Lopetegui and give him 2 or 3 weeks before he starts.

I find all the off the field revelations tedious. Where was the reporting when they were happening, when fans could see the players had enough of him? The Jonny fallout was well known, but I think I'm right in saying was only reported in SM land. The local media failed the fans who they are there to represent in favour of keeping on the good side of the club

Including a somewhat half-hearted jab at the senior players
So it seems Lage was a bit crap, overly complicated, confused coaching, crap man management and poor decision making with injured players. The senior players could maybe have stepped up a bit. Nothing we didn't know or suspect there then.
Interesting to see what the actual bust up with Jonny was about.

Same thing happened with Nuno. All of a sudden we were told he was 'moody'. When Lage took over we were told the players loved him and he'd lifted the whole place.

Don't think a football journalist has ever severely criticised a manager while they've been in post have they?
