Pulis was goading Nuno most of the game and his team kicked us to bits, add to that the ref situation and the elation of holding on for 3 points who can blame him.

Pulis said as much in his interview (that he would have been off celebrating) and both managers were respectful in their post match interview.

I am sure they shook hands later on, bit of a storm in a teacup if you ask me.

Managed to watch the game here in the States.
Never liked Pulis never liked Attwell either.
Again I honestly didn't think we'd loose even with 9 men against 12. Could have played another 30 minutes and I don't think they would've scored another our defense is solid!

On a side note, I just realized after changing my flights back home I land at Heathrow at 11am on the 11th, what are the chances of driving up and bagging a ticket for the Derby game?

I think last night was a one off. At Full Time (if on the pitch) he has shook everyones hand in victory or not. I think the pure emotion of winning with 9 men and the way we defended alongside the antics of Pulis and co during the game. Guarantee the moment he started to "come down" he will have gone to find Pulis.

Still makes me smile that we were told when he arrived that Nuno shows zero emotion.

They were phenomenal to a man, absolutely rock solid while completely stopping Boro playing with a two man advantage. Can’t failt any of them and Boly was outstanding. I would have run back to Wolverhampton if I’d managed us in that game.

I said pre game it'd be good to stick one in the eye of Pulis ball and here we are.

Playing percentages and spending as much time drying the ball as Ruddy taking goal kicks, niggly fouls.

We hung on yesterday because he's an unimaginative pleb who saw a team go down to ten and then 9 and instead of patiently playing and finding a weakness threw attackers on and tried to hit the box at every opportunity. Their eagerness to do that led to overshot crosses, poor passing and shots smashed over/wide. This is why the cliche of struggling to play against ten men is born because managers abandon the things that bring them to the party. Until this season I'd have been all for the extra attackers but seeing us against bus parkers this season and seeing how (with the exception of Sunderland) we have just patiently probed until we found a weaknes or seize upon a mistake.

Having watched the highlights back then the 2 Reds were deserved (if either of them were aware that they were on a yellow then they were stupid to go in the way they did - Doherty was probably a more instinctive way of going for the ball, but he did lead with his elbow & gave Attwell a decision to make)

Emotion clearly took over & made the last 20 odd minutes much more difficult than they needed to be - Nuno can't criticise them though (not saying that he would anyway) as clearly his emotions took over at the final whistle.

The Friend/Costa issue was badly handled by Attwell - either he caught him in which case its a foul (possibly not enough for a red as there were other Boro players trying to get back so not sure that he can be classed as the last man) - if he didn't then a yellow to Costa for going down without being touched. Personally think that Friend clipped the back of his leg & at the speed Costa was going it wouldn't take much for him to lose his footing.

(I would apologise if any comments made yesterday caused anyone extra stress during the second half - as a mature (a better word than old) forum member I shouldn't be risking a potential ban which I was threatened with - clearly my emotions ran away with me as well as the teams' - I promise I won't do it again :surrendered

I do think he was joking about that Peter! I laughed when I saw that comment, I am certain that was just a bit of banter!!

Just very happy that this team proved me right in the end - having said that really couldn't see a Pulis inspired team working out a way to win that - as said emotion took over so it wasn't a rational comment

Well that was, in the end, a great day out! You couldn't ask for more commitment or passion from a team and our fans played a part as well - never stopped singing all game and got right behind the team. In the cold light of day though the team cannot lose discipline like they did in that mad period as on another day we would lose. Really great to meet Darlo, Aiki and Lycan as well and hope to see you all again soon!

Re Doherty's elbow would normally be a straight Red, but you could clearly see the second yellow brandished first - if it wasn't for the raised elbow then can't see that it was a foul, just 2 players challenging for a high ball

I think Atwell only gave Doc a second yellow because then he knows it can't be appealed. If he thought he led with his arm/elbow deliberately it should have been a straight red.

Personally I think not shaking the hand of the opposition manager is out of order even if he is a prick. I've not seen the celebrating in Pulis' face that supposedly happened but if he did then that's out of order as well. I like Nuno's passion and don't have an issue with his goal celebrations or running on the pitch, but at the same time he needs to stay the right side of classy.
