Middlesboro 1 - 2 Wolves: Verdict

If Leadbitter deserved a straight red then so did Neves for the challenge that bought his second yellow.

Neves second challenge was pretty awful tbf. Both were borderline but neither proper reds for me.

Have to give another shout out to Adama Traore. What a player on his day.

"I don't think he touched [Costa]. I think he's fallen over. Whether he's tried to get [Friend] sent off being the last man or not, I don't know what goes through people's minds, but he's one-on-one with the goalkeeper and he actually falls over himself."

I actually think the headband on that cap is just too tight ??

It was, but the inept fucking twat booked them both.
Seen this mentioned a few times and done a bit of Googling, can't see anything to say he isn't allowed to award cards against both the foul he played advantage on and the one which ultimately stopped play. Even been a few times where both those fouls have been committed by the same player and ended up being sent off for two yellows in a single passage of play.

Just got back. Atwell should never ref another professional game the fucking useless blind cunt.
The trip on Costa was directly in front of me you coukd see the contact from the stands. Blind cunt looked at the linesman who was not even looking at the play.
Dont have a issue with Neves red it was a yellow all day long.
Did not see doc's too far away looks like 2 players jumping for the ball.

Thought the tackle by the boro player early first half was a straight red feet off the floor.
Also thought their number 5 with blond highlights made 4 or 5 fouls with no cards.

No MOTM for me it should go to all 9 who finished, what scenes at the end i love Nuno and the very fact he ignored the cunt Pullis is fucking brilliant

I want to be very clear that my contention with Attwell had nothing to do with his handing out two yellow cards for the same incident. That is quite legitimate according to the laws of football. My contention is that it was inconsistent with the decision he had made less than a minute earlier on the Costa breakaway. The Costa breakaway called for a decision: if Friend tripped Costa, he should have been sent off; if Friend did not trip Costa, then Costa should have been yellow carded for a dive. Not to make a decision on that incident was not an option available to him, so when he decided to card Neves and Docherty for the same incident a minute later, it left him with a rod of his own making. My own view is that Neves' offence did not warrant a yellow card (his first; his second was a clear yellow card, just as there were two borderline red card offences for Middlesbrough players in the first half for which there was merely a talking to the respective players); others can disagree. What cannot be contested though is the fact that in the context of the game at that point, Attwell was acting in a highly inconsistent manner (having NOT brought out a card for the Costa incident and then carding two players of the same team in the next one) and thereafter he began to lose the control of the game. Once having lost control, he erroneously (in my view) gave a second card harshly to Doherty for an offence that merited only a free kick. As I said earlier, he went back six years or so in his development as a referee as a consequence of this inconsistency and I will not be surprised to find that he will not be refereeing Wolves for some time in the future.

Do you think the FA even give a fuck my opinion is they will just let it go and will not even say a word.

If we complain they sort of have to. Especially if we point out the cunt is a Villa fan and had a vested interest in us not winning yesterday.

I don't think it would be the first time we've complained about him refereeing our games either.

Absolutely spot on. My own view on Atwell was that he lost it from the 40th minute onwards when he suddenly caved in to the crowd and booked Ruddy for time-wasting when he was simply doing what goalies do. After that he seemed determined to penalise Wolves whenever he could. One of the oddest reffing displays I've seen in a lifetime of watching football.

A brief comment on Tony Pulis. What a sad little man he looked last night. He looked a pale shadow of the Stoke manager, in exactly the same way that the Mbro long throws were a pale shadow of Rory Delap. I thought he was certain to get Mbro out of the championship, but after last night I doubt it. One dimensional tactics, even agaisnt 9 men. Petulant and more concerned with Nuno being outside his technical area than the shower of shit in red and white. Take Traore out of that side and there is nothing there. And if Ben Gibson was supposedly worth £25m this time last year then Willie Boly is worth about £250m

My main problem with Attwell is that he appears to lose control in every game I see him ref.

Is he back in time PL these days? If so, we're likely to have to suffer him next season too.

Missed the game last night but just seen the challenge on Cav, was that the leadbitter one? Absolute shocker, so much force and nowhere near the ball, could easily have broken a leg

100% spot on.

Trying to take my Wolves blinkered glasses off it was one of the most inconsistent but blatantly biased ref performances I can ever recall. The quote earlier before from the Boro site re being the 12th man was actually how it appeared from the time Wolves went 2 up.

Behind the scenes and on the quiet I hope the club seriously take it up with the authorities (not that it might do any good). Such performances just should be not tolerated.

I wouldn't be surprised if the first Doc yellow was for dissent as opposed to his foul. He was determined to shoot his mouth off as soon as he could. Poor from him on that part. Unlucky to be given a second yellow for the elbow, but conversely, I reckon he pissed Atwell off with his abuse which helped him make that decision.

Loved Nuno's celebrations at the end. A lovely big "fuck you" to Pullis for his shitty tactics, his players early niggling fouls, zero intention to play football and petulant attitude towards our bench being stood up and out of the box. Pullis didn't deserve a handshake. He 'deserved' to see what real team spirit looks like.

It was and a deliberate tackle to injure a player.

It was plainly evident yesterday, you could see the look on his face, it was not a man enjoying his job, at times he had the face of somebody thinking that he'd dug a hole too deep and didn't know how to get out of it !
I think I could live with the performance if he'd been inconsistent for both sides but it was so one sided I was envisaging a reverse 'battle of Bramhall Lane ' situation where we ended up with only six on the pitch (only without the intent obvs.)

Think someone said he has been back in prem and done 14 matches
