Lambert

so if either a or b happens, and PL gets the sack what do we do ?
understand that no decent manager wants a relegation on his CV ,
we will still have 33 pts up for grabs ,we will need at least 15 to poss stay up ?

Promote Scott Sellars as temporary manager, bin Thelwell, Mountain and Edwards... Bring in Tim Flowers as keeper coach and get a couple more coaches in. Give Sellars free reign to play the team he wants to.
Very simplistic I know but couldn't do any worse than Lambert and actually knows the best kids we have and has been their "boss" in their rise to the first team

Mainly because it would be Kevin Thelwell selling his vision rather than Fosun outlining a massively progressive ambitious plan to take Wolves into the Premier league. The club seems controlled by small minded, reserved thinkers at this time.

we need the right person here if PL goes
the next 13 games/2 mths is massive for us, hopefully Thelwell will be part of the clear out when the season finishes

Tim Flowers' recent coaching career at Stafford, Northampton and Kidderminster does not inspire me.

He was a brilliant keeper and used to play for Wolves but I don't see the relevance there tbh, I wouldn't want Bully coaching our strikers.

So everything else is ok then

Bobby Mimms as gk coach? His record isn't as bad as Tim...

Scott Sellers may not be a bad idea !
as i have read on here , he's doing a good job for the u23 side, some of the young players coming through look like they might actually make a difference.
can i ask why Rob Edwards got to manage the 2 interim games and not SS . ?

I stick with what I said a week or so ago, there's a lot of reflected glory that goes Mimms' way, wasn't exactly hard to bring Matt Murray through. No-one is doing anything worthwhile with Ikeme or Lonergan as they're both crap and in their 30s, Burgoyne hasn't shown much so far to convince that he's ever going to be a Championship quality option either.

Not to say we don't need an upgrade in that or any other coaching area.

I wouldn't hang my hat on Scott Sellars to be honest, doesn't inspire confidence.

He's done a bloody good job with the U23's albeit with some pretty exciting young players at his disposal

That was mainly Jerry Gills work at under 18 level playing through the thirds, Scott Sellars plays to long into channels.

Rob Edwards did a decent job with the younger players. Maybe he could take over temporarily? I'm sure the players would respond and there'd be a 'new manager bounce' between now and the end of the season.....

I've seen what Rob Edwards offered when he took temporary charge...It was the same old shit with Edwards, Coady, Doc and Saville so I'll pass thanks :icon_lol:

Exactly - so why would it be any different with anyone else currently working in the coaching staff?

The main issue for me are the players and their attitudes - why were they so up for it against Liverpool, Chelsea etc but so half arsed against the likes of Wigan and Blues mere weeks later? FWIW I don't think they quite appreciated how dire the situation was so took their foot off the gas. I expect Lambert to ramp up the pressure on them and stress the importance of the run in - if he were to leave, I don't think enough of the players have the bollocks to step up their game for anyone already working at the club. Too many players here believe they're too good to go down.

He's not a 'joke' of a keeper he's an average to lower level championship keeper and we could definitely do a lot worse (e.g. Lonerghan)
Yeah we could do worse(probably one or two on earth and still alive), not with lonergan though

Sometimes the best coaches are not the best players, whilst it helps to have played the game there are plenty of really good players that made terrible coaches/managers (see Dean Saunders)

Sacking Lambert now would be madness, we can make a decision at the end of the season and if we don't stay up he should rightfully go. As and when that time comes it needs to be a complete break and I fully support others that have called for an entire restructure and clear out of the old coaching team.

For now we have Lambert, he needs to be brave and start picking our best players if he does that I think we will stay up comfortably.

You need to get a grip on the Ikeme hatred, not the best goalkeeper, but nor is he the worst. He's also not our biggest problem in the team by a long way.

He's not very good and I'd have had him chucked years ago (even at his best, he has way too much of a propensity for total clangers and always gets injured at least once a season) but he's clearly the best we've got at the moment and by some distance.

Lonergan is authentically terrible, he wouldn't get in plenty of League Two teams.

By the way my idea was based on a worse case scenario of us losing the next two matches, Lambert being sacked and who could we possibly attract...I have no desire to see any of this come to fruition and want to get to the end of the season, still in the Championship and have Fosun sack everyone but Lambert and allow him the freedom to bring in his own staff and players

Ikeme is poor. He is prone to more than the odd rickett. However, we do not have a replacement to substitute in for him this season so it isn't a position that we can have any effect upon before the summer. At all.

Therefore, other positions have to be the priority for the quick fixes that get us over the line in May. We cannot afford to get relegated again.

They the staff seem to indicate the use of stats are important, but which stats. Certainly not the ones that show pass completion from midfield player to midfield player. The balls just not retained enough through the midfield and from that the through balls into the final third are near non existent wasting the talents and time of Dicko and Costa.

It will be GPS, how many sprints, how much ground they cover. Which is all well and good, but as anyone who has ever watched Edwards can testify, running around a lot does not necessarily equate to having a good game.
