Lambert

Had a lot of beers last night but nevertheless it was correct and from my heart and brain..

You want Lambert to go which is your prerogative, what isn't really on is asking me questions, me having the decency to answer you properly and you either not listening, repeating the same point over and over or coming back with one line non-sequiturs, because that isn't really a discussion is it and it certainly doesn't make you "correct". Hence me drawing a line under it last night because I don't see why I should expend the energy on a one way conversation on a Saturday night.

There are arguments to get rid of him (like there are about any manager who goes on this kind of run, whatever level they're at), I happen to disagree with them at the moment. We need him to get this right because there isn't a viable alternative out there who'd come at this stage as far as I'm concerned.

How do you back that claim up considering where Derby were when he was sacked?
Wolves need some tough love. Pearson would certainly mix it up instead of wank sound bites of how unlucky we are week in week out.

Ok Dan, sorry I was a bit out of order last night and frustrated, wasnt aimed at you really, I respect that you answer me in a decent way but I dont agree with you that we need to keep Lambert. With a decent manager with our squad we wouldnt be in this position, we have much more going than the rest of the relegation teams..

I have a very bad feeling, based on what has happened at Leicester. Sack Manager. Caretaker Manager wins two out of two, six points and a move clear of relegation.

Leicester will be a world news story. Fosun will be aware of it. They will look on in contemplation.

It's rabbit-in-headlights time. Stick or twist? Has it really come to thinking the law of averages will save us from the drop?

Will Lambert continue the shuffle next game, or revert to what he had before? His decision on that will be crucial to what happens for the rest of the season. We are all still bemused as to how bad CBJ, a Man Utd protege, really is to not even make the bench when we are hopelessly short of a specific Left Back with first team experience (remember he played games in the Premiership last season). Iorfa had a rest and sounded totally different upon recall yesterday. Saiss and Williamson proved the point that they should start whenever they are available. We still have no striker who knows where the net is (one Dicko blip the exception) - so why not plunder the U23 set-up rather than stick with those firing blanks? Hause benefits from having experience next to him. Maybe Stearman to partner him in Williamson's absence - bit of a make-do-and-mend but surely better than Batth? And Cav and Graham are not far off a return to provide the much-needed cavalry.

It's in Lambert's hands right now. The line-up yesterday said to me that he had been told he is in the "last chance saloon". Fix it or you're gone. Well, there were plenty of positives, even Saville was a better option than Mr Gloves... (BUT, and this is critical to trying to anticipate Lambert's next move... Mr Gloves still ended up coming on for the last few seconds - he's not out of the frame by any stretch of the imagination).

So, what next, then? First things first, we will lose at Ipswich on Tuesday. Mick twisting the knife into his former employers. If you were scripting this (an episode of "Dream Team", perchance?), that is what you would do. I think Fosun already know the management TEAM they want for next season, and it doesn't involve Lambert. Or Thelwell - his choice of Lambert will not be forgiven. The next manager choice might make picking Walter positively pedestrian.

The trigger is going to be pulled, regardless of results between now and the end of the season. Lose on Tuesday and it might come Wednesday morning. With a new team installed on Thursday, in time for Saturday against Rotherham.

Whether that happens is all up to Lambert taking on board lessons learned from yesterday. I don't believe he is capable of doing so, and hence my feeling is he'll be gone sooner rather than later, as "Plan D" on management for this season is already in place...

I think Nige would fall into the same 'hard work over talent' trap that so many managers have fallen into at Wolves.

I also don't think it'd be fair to expose poor Mikey Burrows to a Nigel Pearson pre/post match interview...

It's a shame hes fallen into the same as Kenny did - all the talk about playing MGW, Ronan, Bright etc (and we did well with them) he's now dumped them.

A very good post. My opinion is that changes must be made now. Wolves are sleepwalking towards the bottom three, and I am not convinced that Lambert is the man to turn things around. Warburton or Rowett should be asked to take over until the end if the season, with a guarantee they would be offered the job on a permanent basis if they keep Wolves in the championship.

That's not much of a carrot to dangle to those two. They'd just wait it out, there will be jobs in the summer, maybe even this one.

Wouldn't want Warburton anyway.

The owners could dangle a very big carrot in terms of financial rewards for keeping us in this division. Something must be done to arrest this alarming decline. I just cannot believe that we might end up back in league one.

I would like Rowett over Lambert anyday of the week..but more longterm somebody international..

There is no way a decent manager is going to come to Wolves atm, why would they? if we survive then maybe, but if we go down there will be a number of Premiership/Championship jobs available for the likes of Rowett, Warburton etc.
If Lambert makes wholesale changes to the team he put out Saturday and we don't get 4 points from the next two games, I really don't know where we go....apart from down

To save Lamberts job come 4.50pm on Saturday he needs at least 4 points and a victory against Rotherham in that. Anything less then Jeff has to sack him.

Agreed. Though if we lose at Ipswich then it could be curtains for him.

I can't see why not. And I remember people on here laughing at Cardiff City and QPR for appointing Warnock and Holloway. But they haven't done too badly.

We've had so many so called wank managers totally make people like Jackett and Lambert look mugs.. Steve Evans and the above two to name but a few.

The difference being all of those managers have complete control of the playing side.
