Keir Starmer at it again..

'If all we do is place the NHS on a pedestal then I am afraid it will remain on life support. I know some people don’t like the word reform but I tell you now there’s no other option.'

Narrator: There were other options.

Does it ever occur to you, or your fellow corbynites, that you might not be right about everything? Sometimes it’s ok to just say it’s complex and you’re not sure about the best solution.

Not that long ago plenty of people were happy to go with austerity because there were 'no other options'. It was bollocks.

It was very good I believe. Although your mileage may vary. It would be like someone telling Langers a Kasabian gig was quality.

When are you Starmerites gonna understand that it isn't about Corbyn. I couldn't give two hoots about the man. Its about the policies. You constantly revert to throwing out terms like Corbynites or cultists to anyone with left political views that don't toe the Starmer Labour Party line. Its pretty lame, and devalues the level of discussion to a name calling contest.

Hence why I've referred to you as a Starmerite. I've no idea if that fits you, just as you've no idea if Corbynite fits TP or myself. Play the post not the poster.

I used Corbynite as I thought it was less harsh than 'far left'. But as you will.

Labour are so right wing now to qualify as far left you just have to want some council homes and a properly funded NHS. Back in the day it meant revolution and total state run industry.

That's the Tories (and a complicit media) moving the Overton window so far right though isn't it.

Like some of their 2020s policy and language genuinely comes from the 1990s BNP handbook, and I'm not even exaggerating there.

Much like everything from 2010 onwards, it'll take a while to undo.

It's totally that. But if Labour nod along with it all, the dialogue just drifts ever rightwards.

You have to be realistic though. If I'm in the car with the missus and realise we've taken a wrong turn somewhere then my options as unofficial navigator are:

1) Say nothing and hope she works it out herself
2) Say "we'll keep on going this way, it'll probably be alright"
3) Get her to turn around at the safest, nearest point, wherever that might be (might be a way off), and we'll have to make our way back as quickly and as best as we can
4) Tell her to pull an immediate handbrake turn now at full speed and spin the car 180 degrees

1, 2 and 4 just aren't viable options. 4 is as bad as 1 and 2.

I do appreciate though that if you're of a reasonably Blairite tendency (which I suppose I am, within reason) then you're not going to find Starmer's messaging or persona that much of a problem, whereas if you aren't/weren't then you probably will.

You're forgetting that pesky electorate in all this, too.

Ideals and visions and aspirations have changed irrevocably in some ways. Labour can't do much about some of that

I do wonder how left a Labour manifesto would have to be for this Government to be voted back in though? It would give genuine rather than manufactured fuel for the RWP, but even so I think too many people have belatedly seen them for what they are. For example I think either of Corbyn's 2 GE manifestos would be elected against Sunak with Starmer fronting them
