January 2020 transfer window

Vinagre did nothing in his 10 minute cameo to suggest he would have been better than Neto.

He did as much as Neto in the previous 80 minutes, tbf.

Neto should be nothing more than an option off the bench as it currently stands. Unfortunately our small squad size and injuries has put pay to that.

Neto off the bench is a great option, It’s probably too early for him to be starting but Jota is injured. Not really sure what Nuno can do here, there is no way we are going to have 2 top players for each position. Best we should have is a Jota and a Neto able to cover. Which is what we have.

Did he?

Neto had a few good runs, one in particular in the 2nd half where he rinsed their right side and perhaps should have been greedy and gone for goal, instead he looked up to see Raul surrounded by 4 players and no one else.

I don't recall Vinagre doing anything other than one ball in to the stands, also he was bloody awful against United.

The thing is we are in a position where we are having to give 19/20 year old players a hell of a lot of minutes in crucial games.

I wouldn't class a game v Newcastle mid season as a crucial game, and how are 19/20 year old players going to get experience if you don't play them, loaning them out to Wigan,Doncaster or Exeter isn't going to show them much about the premier league

I think we’ll get two players in this window - the worry for me is that it’s not often in this window that really good players move to teams like us ahead of the last week - they tend to wait for the champions league teams or big salaries, and will wait until it’s clear that’s not happening for them. That then means probably another couple of weeks of people stressing about signings.

On the plus side, I guess it’s only the fa cup replay and two league games those signings can’t play in.

I may try and and prize Ings away from Southampton.... good goal scoring record, real good competition for Raul, and something different

Where have I said we should loan them?

I'm saying that having to rely on these players for 3 or 4 games in a row isn't great for their development, it actually hinders it.

Every game is crucial, that is the level we are playing at.

Ings would cost a huge amount of money.

If we are looking at that level of investment I would much rather we made the Thomas Lemar deal happen. That would be an amazing signing.

Not the first time we’ve been linked with Lemar. Much as I’d love him here I can’t see it happening.

I dunno.

It's a very "Mendes" sort of deal.

Lemar Jimenez Traore would be a fucking devastating front line.

Nixon (yeah, yeah) reckons Bellingham is very much on our radar.

Not sure where the love in for Vinagre as a forward has come from. I assume it’s only because he’s got decent pace (not that he ever uses it effectively in attacking situations).

His crossing and decision making in attacking situations is truly abysmal (seems to be getting worse). He’s actually OK defensively when we sit back and then offers pace on the counter to get us up the pitch, and the his pace also helps out in defensive situations (normally when he’s made a mistake or is out of position).

He’s never going to go from LB > LF like Bale did, as Bale always had a wand of a left peg. We need to just teach him to shift it a yard and cross (not in the stands) or actually beat his man without the 10 step overs. Then he might actually be useful as a LB/LWB. Never a forward though.

Bellingham won't leave Birmingham this window.

Don't see why not. I think staying local and moving from a club who is going nowhere fast is probably a good move. Probably leaving him there for the rest of the season if he's going to get games is a good thing, if he isn't he's far better playing in our U23's than theirs.

If the EFL are putting their foot on Blues' throat regarding breaching agreements (as seems to be the case) then they might not have a lot of choice in the matter.

He's supposed to be the real deal but bar highlights I've never seen the boy play.

With Bellingham I am somewhat ITK on the situation (believe it or not) and the impression I get is that him and the club want him to stay until the summer. From reading elsewhere also seems that Blues think that similar to Che Adams they can get a better deal for the player in the summer then they will now. Maybe that will change as the month progresses if the EFL puts more pressure on them, but right now I do not think he will leave based on what I have been told.

Would definitely be a good signing and one we should pursue if we can though.
