Giro d'Italia / Tour de France

Boardman says there is no right to appeal in any decisions made on this, so I would expect some kind of neutralisation to occur and some caveats applied to make the best out of a bad situation.

It looked like Froome's replacement bicycle had a problem and he had to get another one.

I didn't think you can run without your bicycle. I always thought you had to wait for your team to give you a replacement. I am probably wrong.

you can - dates back to the old days when you had to change your own punctures and carry a spare tyre, but I think the rule is still there.

Hope the motorcyclist gets $#@!ing binned off. Happens way too $#@!ing often.

Surely you can't blame the motorbike, many of the riders are ex-cyclists and they aren't going to stop just because. It stopped suddenly so I expect some numpty stepped out right infront of him, they can't just run them over.

Yes - I agree. No doubt a numpty in the crowd. However there is precedent for the bikes to get chucked off for causing accidents and I wouldn't be shocked if it happens.

If you want to stop this stupidity then the only thing to do is barrier the entire climbs. Quite clear the crowds are just so big they are getting impossible to control without barriers. Which would be a shame but what do you do?

I'm beginning to wonder if they might let the result stand. Froome is 53 seconds back. That is hardly his tour compromised.

Whatever they do it looks like Yates in yellow unless they fully neutralise at 3k.

Its unfortunate, but Mollema has done nothing wrong.

Remember when drugstrong got knocked off halfway up Hautacam and Jann Ullrich waited for him, at which point our favourite American who must not be named proceeded to blow him away in a spectacular display of bad sportsmanship?

But Porte and Froome were with Mollema at the time of the crash, so you just give them the same time.

No, not at any equality with Mollema, at the organisers if they insist on keeping the result as it stands. Boardman saying that the result does not have "provisional" on it and he would expect rider strikes if it were to be ratified.

Mollema was given the same time as Froome, even though he came off his bike too, but finished before Froome. The Crowd was booing, when the yellow jersey was confirmed for Froome, but I think it was the right decision.

That is definitely the right decision. Would have made for a more interesting race but wouldn't have sat comfortably with me.

I agree with this. There are far too many bellends in the crowd and if they are not going to barrier the mountain stages they should at least have some sort of marshalling. The cock who ran into the back of the motorbike and Porte should be banned for life, absolute pillock.

Time trial could be interesting tomorrow.

I think the tour will be cancelled tomorrow, if people have been killed in Nice. Here in Spain it is being reported as terrorism.

Hope not, terrorism wins if we change our way of life.

Security has been very tight in France over the past few months, but I did notice it had relaxed a bit on my last trip. I guess it will just step up again, particularly in the cities.

only caught up with the stage late yesterday. ridiculous events though for any longstanding viewer not a great surprise unfortunately. surprised that Quintana couldn't go with a break when others could esp when he hasn't done that much up to now. why was that?

would have been interesting had froome been down the list for the TT. as yell he'll have the luxury of knowing what times have been set and I expect he'll be able to exploit that easily enough. Bit of a shame for the race but as we've found out today there are more important things in life.
