Giro d'Italia / Tour de France

Cobbles safely negotiated by the favourites. I fancy degenkolb to take the stage.

Really deserves at least a day in yellow for his efforts so far. Equally Froome won't be too bothered as Martin isn't a threat overall.

Great stuff from Tony! Really pleased for him, spent a lot of his career killing himself for other riders so great to get what should be a few days in yellow. Also adds to the belief that he should really ride the cobbled classics.

Happy all the favourites survived though Nibali and Froome looked more comfortable than Contador and Quintana I thought.

he was still on trentin's bike wasn't he?

I thought Quintana coped very well, stayed in contact and did what was needed. Not sure what Froome was thinking when he attacked at the 10km mark though.

Looked like he got a bit of a rush of blood to the head having coped with the cobbles so well, think Thomas probably had a word with him to take it easy. Quintana did pretty well given a lack of team support, Valverde was in the group I think but inevitably wasn't giving him any assistance that I saw.

Sounds like dreadful weather today so perhaps not the simple sprint stage originally thought.

Bouhanni out with 'multiple broken bones'. Not sure what happened as ITV have only just started coverage but apparently it involved most of his team and a ditch.

Saw a picture, he was holding his wrist. Intermediate sprint coming up and plenty of points up for grabs with only one man up the road.

Cavendish appeared to lose Renshaw on the final bend before the sprint. Good finish to the stage though.

Very exiciting sprint at the end. Not good organisation again from Quick Step though no excuse for Cav really as no lead outs for anyone really.

See Jack Bauer has dropped out

obviously not the man he used to be, one time an army of terrorists were no problem, now he falls off his bike and he is fucked...

Sounds like Martin and Nibali crashed in the last kilometre today. Hope they are both okay. Stybar the stage winner.

I reckon Martin's broken his collarbone. His teammates are riding him in and he's holding his left arm.

Oh crap - I think Martin has done his collar bone. That's that for his tour if it is the case.

BTW - BBC website coverage is shockingly bad. Firstly they got the stage winner wrong (they went for Trentin). Secondly they were wondering whether Martin will get credited the same time. It is within the last three kilometres of a flat stage so of course those that crash get the same time. That rule has been there for fucking years. Do your homework BBC. If I can't watch pictures then I will be following LeTour.com in future.
