General Wolves News

Definitely Bull & Vaughan, remember it clearly as we had radio WM on with the goal updates. No live commentary back then if memory serves me right.

I went to a match that needed the orange ball after 15min or so.

Different kind of wet, granted. And much more fun.

If he felt so much love and affection from Wolves, why did he hold the club to ransom over a new contract that we didn’t need to give him?

And then force a release clause in there (irrespective of relegation, which had previously been the deal) which was well below his market value?

Sorry, this sort of bullshit doesn’t wash with me.

If we get points in the next couple of games and it's all but done then I wouldn't play him again this season. I realise it's probably slightly harsh as we'd have gone down without him but it's made very clear in that last paragraph he wants to leave in the Summer and that release clause guarantees it so we should be having a look at players who will be here next season.

He's a classic less than well educated 25 year old who will be taking advice from his agent and hangers on. Mind you he's a talented footballer, multilingual and a lively and friendly, thoughtful chap when motivated. Very young still though.

It's not miles below market value at all. £20m profit to us in two and a half years and the same level of fee as the likes of Man City have been paying for attackers for a while, also puts him in the bracket where about 15 clubs worldwide can afford him (and several of those don't need him so won't be in).

I suppose it differs to Lemina, as Cunha scores the goals.

But this is what Vitor said to that situation.

'I can't bring a player who tells me he is not in the mental condition to help the team,' Pereira said. 'He wants to leave.

'I don't know what happened before me, but with this energy and this mentality, I don't need him.”

I guess we’ll see how quickly the release clause gets triggered.

My guess is that he’ll be gone the second other clubs are allowed to buy him.

For clarity, I have absolutely no issues with him leaving. Same for Jota, Neto, Neves and others. I’m a Wolves fan, I’m used to other clubs taking our best players - it even happens to Liverpool.

But I’m not a big fan of players holding clubs to ransom and, in this case, gaslighting our fan base into thinking Cunha has done us a favour somewhere here.

He has clearly looked after his own interests throughout. And that’s fine. Just don’t give me all that “signing the contract” celebration……most of us aren’t fucking stupid.

I’ll be the first to say that football wages are horrifically disgusting, but you can’t blame Cunha for getting his money while it’s there to be got. Knowing what you’re worth and asking your employer for that in remuneration is a life skill ffs.

What's this wank about holding the club to ransom? His contract was a reward for excellent performances and an opportunity for us to protect his value.

I really don't understand the issue some Wolves fans have with Cunha.

I must be missing something, clearly, then.

We didn’t need to give him a new contract, especially as he made it perfectly clear he wanted to go in the summer? We have, effectively, given him a 6 month pay rise with him getting banned for some of the most important parts of it.

All this “plenty of interest in January” stuff - doesn’t matter. We didn’t have to sell. He was under contract.

I not sure I understand “protecting his value”?

As it stands, he is definitely leaving for £62.5m.

Do we think, without the release clause, that sort of figure would have been unattainable?
