General Wolves News

Anyone who thinks Semedo gives a fuck. Rewind and watch all four of Brighton's goals. Absolute disgrace.
Out of position, weak and worst of all (as was the case yesterday) scared of the ball hitting him. Besides contributing zero going forward obviously.
And yet Kilman makes him look like Beckenbauer

Yeah he is awful at the minute.

So to recap:
Other than, Sa (brain farts) Kilman (shite) Dawson (legs gone) Semedo (feeble) Ait Nouri (loose cannon)
Our defence has quite a lot going for it 😆.

I'd like a better fb than Semedo, but he's far from the worst problem in our back line.
Agree with the sentiment, but he also offers nothing offensively and is always slack defensively. It’s no coincidence that he always seems to be at fault for goals we concede in one small way or another.

I honestly don’t think if we started a back 4 of Doc/Jonny-Toti-New Bueno-Old Bueno we’d look any less likely to keep a clean sheet.

Semedo wasn't at fault for the 2nd or 3rd goals on Sunday.

A ringing endorsement.

Most/all of our defence, bar Captain Fantastic, are away on international duty, so I can’t see GoN making any changes for the Liverpool game as he won’t have any time with them on the training pitch.

Tbf wholesale changes ahead of playing Liverpool and City would be a hospital pass from the gaffer. I agree that any/all of Doc, Toti and the Buenos could well be looking at the individuals keeping them out and wonder what the fuck, but there's little value in changing it at the moment

There do need to be consequences for being consistently at fault for concessions, though.

Kilman’s ass has earned the bench.

Or alternatively we'll probably lose whatever we do, so change it now as it makes no difference either way.

You can play that card forever, don't throw them in at home to Villa, big local derby where we might well need a win.

Bit daft to say he's been at fault for all goals conceded.
Tbh I'd play broken Jonny rather than Doc.

We all know Jonny isn't the player he was (and it breaks our hearts) but just looking at last season, he was excellent at home to Southampton and very decent at home to Spurs.

Even if there's a small chance of him replicating that performance, it's better than the 0% chance of Doherty performing to a similar level as a RB in the Premier League in 2023 against a team who expect to challenge for the title.

I'd have kept Saiss too, but then I loved him so maybe not rational there.

Speaking of whom

Semedo is excellent one v one. It's his positioning when balls come into the box that let's him down defensively.
He loves throwing in a random 1/10 game too (never pick him vs Brighton again, please).

He's underwhelming for what we paid but we knew that two years ago. He's alright in general. There's no way Doherty is a viable option in a back four, he never has been for anyone at any level.

He’s very good against some players or has been (Zaha, Mbappe) but then hopeless against others (Mitoma, A.Davies)

Defensively he’s very good 80% of the time but when he’s not he is literally 1/10 and we all know about his weakness with balls played over his head.

He’s also one of if not the worst full back in the league attacking output wise, it’s close to zero.

He’s one of our most frustrating players for me because i know he can be world class defensively but drops in too many of those 1/10s. Not everyone will agree but i’d rather have an attacking right back that you knew was probably going to drop in more 4 or 5 out of 10’s than Nelson defensively but contributed to us going forward.
