Tiers GET IN THE SEA

Now moving back to the Threat Levels and of course we have hit the spicy threat on the old Nandos scale

Oh the good old alert levels... did we ever get below 3?

Yep my Mrs works in a school so don’t know if we’ll be allowed to send ours in due to being an essential worker. Very nervous at the moment.
My wife is an essential worker too, but last time our nursery closed up so only option would have been to send youngest to somewhere completely random.

Glad to see that tier system was such a roaring success, excellent work.

Absolutely cane loads of business sectors and have the virus soaring to record levels along the way. They were still insisting it worked a couple of days ago too.

Now to wait for our 10,000,000 tests PER DAY as promised by "Operation Moonshot". Alas we seem quite a way off that target.

Need for a National lockdown now - though the vulnerable older person who I know (which I probably should count myself in just) have been shielding for some time. I haven't seen or spoken to anyone (at least in person, though have on the phone) for the last 3 days :(

Hasn't stopped the rise in cases & there is no reason not to do this now otherwise we will be down to curfews & the army on the street to enforce.

Luckily I was able to work from home a lot up until August so we were ok don’t think I’ll be able to this time. Probably going to have to juggle things around.

I've worked from home whole way through, but its impossible to work while looking after a 2 / 3 year old. Nearly broke me last time.

Amen, we've got 2 of them and my wife works too.

We'll find a way, we have to

I think it will move more towards law now, as opposed to just being guidance. The messaging for this particular lockdown needs to be crystal clear. Quite a few countries in Europe have curfews so I could see us moving that way.

I feel for you - my 2 are 7 yrs apart and fought every day when they were younger - the idea of trying to work from home & control them is not something I would want to contemplate.

Fortunately I no longer work & they are 41 & 34 so don't fight now. - I wish you well & trust that you will find a way to cope.

Think about what the fat fucking idiot has just done. Kids have been at home for the last 2+ weeks, seeing family because he said it was ok, so could be picking anything up from anywhere...

He then refuses to listen to what the schools are saying and refuses to close them (although some have just done it anyway)...

So the kids go back for ONE day, spread Covid around their classmates (as well as to teachers and other staff), then get sent back home for an unspecified period. A lot of them will have to be looked after by grandparents too as it isn't feasible for everyone to WFH, or WFH with kids around 24/7.

It's staggering, staggering incompetence.

Shouldn't be forgotten that today is a Bank Holiday in Scotland

It's because it's a popularity contest to him, Dan, not a national emergency.
Yep, absolutely this. It's why he hasnt been making tier announcements and leaving it to Hancock. Couldn't wait to announce that we could see folk at Xmas though.

Still see people feeling sorry for him, with stuff like "He is doing his best, never had to deal with anything like this before" - that sort of stuff may have washed in March & April, but not now. We know enough about the virus and how it spreads to know that the sooner you act, the quicker you get things controlled

And that we bought ourselves time with a lockdown into summer (when prevalence will naturally be lower)...and he totally squandered it, so we're now worse off than we were, albeit with vaccination starting.

All that sacrifice that the whole country made and for absolutely nothing, because he can't or won't make decisions.
