Coronavirus

"The PM said the government "will do everything we can to keep the virus under control","

Doing a marvelous job at that pal, keep it up

A marvellous job of being about two-three weeks late to act. Every. Single. Time.

Scotland are expecting to announce a lockdown including schools from tonight.

Jeremy Hunt calling for the same in England.

That means we'll do it on Wednesday then to account for the usual 48 hour lag between Scotland doing something and us following

2 days later would be rapid response from him. Hes already said tougher measures coming in a couple of weeks, so just do it now. Why wait?

You'd think he'd have learned this by now. Increased measures/lockdowns have to by definition last a certain amount of time or they 100% will not work, they'd be entirely pointless. So let's say it's four weeks (which probably still wouldn't be enough, but for the sake of argument).

You kick the can down the road for no good reason and all it means is we can do fuck all now until 18 January - so no-one is happy -THEN we can do even less than fuck all, and instead of looking to come out in early February, it's two weeks after that. You aren't gaining anything and in the meantime people are dying and even more people are getting infected, seriously ill and clogging up hospitals which are already at breaking point.

Never do a Classics degree is the moral of the story. It clearly doesn't give you any scope for logical thought. You can of course misquote Pericles for no reason to your heart's content.

Oh and their latest wheeze is to put Tier 3 areas into Tier 4. Riiight.

1) There isn't a great deal of difference between the two. You can't get a haircut here right now but I can live with that.
2) London is still absolutely rocketing. They've been in Tier 4 since 21 December. It. Doesn't. Work.

Got to admit I'm rather worried about the next few weeks, I think its going to get very bad.

We went into full national lockdown on Dec 26th. The cases here have jumped tenfold. We went from having ~500 cases per day in early December to 5000 cases a day now.

It's getting close to home now as my wife has a temperature and a persistent cough....

I'm very much on the same page. I had a bit of anxiety in early March 2020, but nothing compared to now.

Boris addressing the nation at 8.00pm (so about half past) this evening. Here we go. Happy New Year folks...

Seems to be a suggestion the measures could move from guidance to law...

Shops will be rammo after work then...
