Coronavirus

rumour has it the new lockdown isn't due to covid. it's to allow time to clear the lorries that are all blocking up kent.
How would Youngwolf not seeing his family or going for a pint on Boxing Day help that?

If you are stuck in a truck in Kent on Christmas Day at least you will be socially isolated - one way of doing it

"
London, the South East and East of England will enter a new tier four level of restrictions from tomorrow morning, the prime minister says.

These will be broadly equivalent to national restrictions which were introduced in England in November, Boris Johnson says.

Residents in those areas must stay at home, with limited exemptions. Non-essential retails and indoors gyms must close.

People should work from home when they can, and should not enter or leave tier four areas. Communal worship may continue.

The restrictions will last for two weeks and will be reviewed on 30 December."

"We cannot continue with Christmas as planned,"

boooooooooo Boris has just cancelled Christmas. The bastard (he would look a right twat if he had mocked the Leader of the Opposition for wanting to do this just 4 days ago)

Too generous it was 3

How long till we get into Tier 6 & everyones door is barred off - not sure that that will significantly reduce infections anyway (unless they bar all downstiars windows to stop people getting out)

Going to be a hell of a lot of drunk drivers on the road on Christmas night.

If people were planning on staying over Xmas night they still will. Outside London i doubt this will change many plans

That would be irresponsible. The Police will have enough on their hands checking people are wearing masks in supermarkets and not socialising. Not to mention the NHS being overwhelmed. Stay in, wash your hands and save the NHS. The message from the mainstream parties is clear altough they tend to argue at who is best saying it and when.

Good luck folks.

I wasn't planning on seeing anyone over Xmas so nothing has changed.

With the increased R of the new strain I'm mentally preparing for lockdown until the end of Feb

Prepare for lockdown, no lockdown, mocking those who want a lockdown, lockdown, Tier 1,2, 3, 4, 4.1, Lockdown and vaccination

Only change I have had to make is when I see my Son, was planning to see him on the 27th but he will now visit on Christmas Day.

Apparently the new strain increases the R by 0.4
lets not kid ourselves that R is increasing owing to the "new strain".
R is increasing owing to the ineffectiveness of the tiers, and the volume of social contact which is happening within london, the south east and east.

To be fair, the entire SE and London have gone mental in a very short space of time. I can't imagine that areas have wildly different levels of compliance.

London probably should have been Tier 3 when we came out of lockdown 2 and from what I saw it was clear the issues in the Boroughs were down to the schools. But Tier 2 and legal threats to keep the Schools open.

After 2 attempts of Tiers you could suggest they don't work. I don't know what the answer is but repeating what went wrong before is probably not the best idea. Also reacting 2-3 weeks late everytime because our PM prefers to get nice Headlines, say quippy shit like have a Merry Little Christmas and be popular over being an actual leader is fucking appalling.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Tories have massively fucked up on the whole thing.

I just don't buy that the new strain is a hoax, I'll accept being wrong if turns out to be but the massive rise in specific areas needs an explanation
