Coronavirus

I do have a bit of sympathy with the govt on this one. They can't ban Xmas gatherings because for some people it's a perfectly reasonable thing to do and they'll do it in a safe manner. They can't give free reign because people won't appreciate there is a looming danger.

They have to land somewhere in the middle. I agree that it'll get abused to fuck but people do have to take responsibility for their own actions.
What they shouldn't have done is foreshadowed it weeks ago, without knowing what on earth would be happening in mid-to-late December. Trying to sugarcoat a lockdown with spurious "it'll be ok at Christmas" promises based on nothing was ridiculous.

But they are of course idiots so they did.

Totally agree with that. Seeing what the numbers were lock once lockdown had ended would have been the smart thing to do. I'd hope the public are grown up enough to understand that, BJ clearly isn't.

would not make any sense, the cases were double what they are now when we were put into tier 2
Think the only reason we landed in Tier 2 was because we got dropped in with Shropshire. As I said, cant see it happening. Only thing that could affect it would be hospital capacity rather than cases

First of the Tiers announcement is Lancashire staying in Tier 3

Da BBC

"
10:45

BreakingLancashire remains in tier 3

Lancashire will remain in England's toughest tier of coronavirus restricitions, local leaders have been told.
The county will continue to be under tier three - which limits household contacts indoors and sees hospitality largely limited to takeaway and delivery services.
The decision was expected, the BBC's Mike Stevens reports."

I can see a graphic for the rest of the country and it would appear than nothing has changed from the post lockdown/London & the South East changes.

Edit - I could be wrong - it does say new tiers from 16th December but then goes on to say a formal review is due on 16th December.

Not a chance any place will move down after yesterdays Christmas "you can do this but please don't" announcement

NW is pretty much the only area with decreasing hospital rates - safe to say nowhere is moving down then

Well this should get the folk who think Covid is fake going again (ignoring some capacity will be down because routine procedures that require beds are cancelled)

"
The latest hospital occupancy data has been published in England. It shows in the week ending 13 December, 89% of beds were occupied, leaving 10,500 empty beds.

That means hospitals were actually busier this time last year, when 95% of beds were occupied."

Bristol down to Tier 2.

Herefordshire down to 1

Yeah skewed by less standard admissions and people steering clear of A+E, also doesn't mention the fact that critical care is still overflowing into other wards

Bristol down to Tier 2.

Herefordshire down to 1
These areas in T3

  • Bedfordshire
  • Buckinghamshire
  • Berkshire
  • Peterborough
  • The whole of Hertfordshire
  • Surrey, execpt Waverley
  • Hastings and Rother
  • Portsmouth, Gosport and Havant

Rest the same. Amazed 2 moved down to be honest

Sounds like they've completely slammed the South into tier 3, regardless of cases by area.

What a pisstake. Just throw us all into lockdown and stop fannying about.

Jeremey Hunt's constituency stays out of Tier 3 (the exception in Surrey) and if I'm right the constituency of Rees-Mogg goes down one.

Edit - Liam Fox not Rees-Mogg

I suspect a tiny number to go down to Tier 1 as a minge/pricktease exercise in saying 'Look what can happen if you all behave yourselves,' perhaps a few up to Tier 3 and us all to be royally rogered in January.

I hope somebody put some money on my prediction.

Was wondering what was special about Waverley.

It genuinely is amazing more people aren't calling out the endemic corruption from these clowns, it'd be funny if it wasn't such a complete breakdown of our society.
