Coronavirus

Lock down. Clear words, no wishy washy rubbish any more. Had to be done at some point regardless of the tests taking the piss

We won't be fully locked down IMO. It'll just be more types of businesses to close, and giving police powers to break up large gatherings.
Nailed it.

Most people, like myself, can't work from home so it's business as usual.

Absolutely the right call, just a shame it came to this

3 weeks and then a review by the looks of it.

To be honest, my house has been like this for the last few weeks anyway

Warehousing for a multi-national paper/packaging company.

Hmmm.

I have a dishwasher being delivered tomorrow. I take it that's not happening now then.

I can't work from home but not sure whether our company would be considered as unnecesary work. Will go in tomorrow and see whats what

Also, does that mean no HGV or delivery lorries on the roads? Surely not.

No it isn't but they haven't told all business to stop, and also said travelling to and from work is allowed.

Our business is actually doing ok, purely I assume because more online ordering means more cardboard packaging which is what we sell most of in recent times.

Not that I'd do it as I'm not a moron, but you're not necessarily stopping anyone from going to work on a busy train, going for a run in the park at lunchtime and then popping in the supermarket in the early evening.

He's still too scared to explicitly say what this is. It's a lockdown. And we definitely should have taken this step 4-5 days ago rather than basically giving the most cretinous around us carte blanche to go and have a weekend knocking about doing whatever you want.

I thought he said to and from work for essential workers

That's how I have read it. If your work is open and you can't do that work at home then you can travel in. All down to the bosses of those firms to decide if they stay open, still a free choice (if you are not a non essential retailer)

He should have said "unless you are a key worker on the list from the shutting the schools announcement, your journey to work is not absolutely necessary and you shouldn't make it".

He's left a bloody grey area.

Same with "exercise".

I can happily go wandering about tomorrow if I want to, going for a walk like I normally do every day.

Just ban it. No-one is going to turn into Bernard Manning inside three weeks.

Also on this, how far down the supply chain do you go.

Royal Mail are being classed as essential by the Government
My wife works for the company that makes everything for Royal Mail, so staying open....but if the paper mills they have to use close, then the items can't be made and RM are fucked. Same then goes for the paper mills suppliers.

RM are currently in full panic mode and ordering like crazy

Only supermarkets and like staying open, even if you don't explicitly ban hgvs who will even need anything non-essential as no one will be buying anything non essential
