Cardiff 2 -1 Wolves: The Pantwetting Verdict.

That was my original point though. I've just been back and read your original verdict. Only one player got a review of shit, guess who?

I don't think I'm a Traore fanboi, as I've said numerous times i wouldn't play him and would happily have him only as a sub. I do think we should focus on more in verdicts than just Traore. He's not the problem imo.

That wasn't my verdict of him, you're not a human swear filter and you can read nuance.

Give it five years and people will still be talking about Traore's potential rather than any genuine end product.

Costa was very poor and was last week also but for me he does still have credit in the bank because of the last two seasons. We know there is a very good player in there, it's just a question of if he can adapt to this level. Took him a number of months to get used to playing in the Championship and it wasn't until late November/early December he started to hit the heights more frequently. Never wanted Traore and didn't think he was all that good in the Championship. Is it really much of a surprise when people who thought he would be shit point out he has been shit.

Always thought i had an innate human swear filter tbh, automatically switch it on and off depending on situation.

My point hasn't changed all along, i don't think it's helpful to call him shit, but I get why people do. If we can help him become a more aware player (massive 'if' i know) then we have a world class player. Its unlikely to happen, but it has happened before that players have improved mid 20s. C

See that I don't agree with. Don't think I've seen the same Costa since his first season. He's had numerous chances for 18 months, it's time for him to sit out.

I think that is correct. Costa has had one excellent game and the rest of it has been disappointing.

Our issue is quite clear to me. NONE of the wide players are operating on full cylinders at all.

I agree he was poor for the first half of last season but that seemed like it took a while for him to get up to speed and regain match fitness. By February I thought we were seeing the old Helder. It's a matter of who he is playing around too. Under Lambert he was the shining light as most of the team was either inept or had no creativity. With Cav improving and Jota added it took the focus off Helder so we didn't give his highs as much attention, granted I know some people may think otherwise.

I don't think we've seen the same Helder. He did stand out in Lambert teams partly cos he was surrounded by dross, but also because he took people on fearlessly, created chances and scored goals. He's not done all three of those together for a very long time.

Cav has, for me, been our best IF for some time now. Even Jota hasn't been great since last January (although he at least kept scoring goals).

Possibly, though Cav was unbelievably poor last weekend.

Jota is our best IF, we just need to get him back in form. Id like to see MGW get a run there too, or a slightly formation tweak to play him at 10 behind Jota and one of Raul / Traore / Cav

agree with that. Though I think Costa had two excellent games (Man Utd and arsenal to my memory), but has been beyond anonymous apart from that.

Apart from him, Jota has been poor, but shown signs of improvement recently, Traore has been slightly better, but still not delivering enough, and cav has been our best IF but had some Random awful performances to go with the good ones.

You’re right that they all need to improve.

I agree on Cav but that is harsh on Jota, he had a poor run Feb-March but had picked up by the end.

Cav was definitely bad against Huddersfield but that's the one bad match he's had in ages. It was atrocious but it will turn out to be a blip, IMO.

Jota has not been good in so long that I don't agree that he's our best IF. Go back to our verdict threads starting roughly last January and I was pretty frustrated with him starting then. Caught a bit of flak for it, too.

I never really felt that way, as I say he at least kept scoring goals but too often those days were akin to Raul yesterday, doing very little aside from the one goal-producing moment.

Alternative view of the cycle: w

1. Whole team play poorly.

2. Verdicts pile in saying Traore is shit.

3. People say that's a big harsh everyone is poor

4. Replies of 'god he's shit, that's some world class whataboutery' etc

5. Rince and repeat

Yeah, I think that’s bang on. It’s funny that the people doing it don’t see it...

Think Jota had already started to go off the boil before last Christmas, whenever it was that there was a big chunk of games televised. That was the first I got to see of him and given all the hype over him on here I don't think he lived up to expectations, spent more time getting wound up by bad tackles and turning every game into a personal battle.

Though, as others have said, he didn't at least manage to maintain decent output even when performances weren't at their best.

This is nonsense. Helder Costa has no credit in the bank at all. Yes, he's been a good player, but at Championship level. That's like saying your horse is entitled to win the Derby because it won a handicap at Newmarket. If you watch the game from last night Costa's sole contribution was a facial expression which was exactly the one we all used in the playground when the big boys took the ball off us.

If you say credit in the champ counts for nothing you may as well bin our whole team Rui, Raul and Moutinho aside. Coincidentally three of the poor performers over the last couple of games.

You don't see Jota's worth on TV, he creates space, never stops moving and helps all over the pitch. Pretty much the opposite of Traore tbf.

I pointed out after the Huddersfield game that we should consider Ruddy in for Patricio against Cardiff and was shot down (not surprisingly). I do think Ruddy would be more suited to games against highly physical sides - Rui flapped at that cross - having said that I'm not questioning that Patricio is our no.1 keeper

I thought Boly was immense in this game Our Midfield were poor and our finishing was abysmal (except for Docs goal)

I still believe in Nuno but have to ask when will Dendoncker be considered?
