I pointed out after the Huddersfield game that we should consider Ruddy in for Patricio against Cardiff and was shot down (not surprisingly). I do think Ruddy would be more suited to games against highly physical sides - Rui flapped at that cross - having said that I'm not questioning that Patricio is our no.1 keeper

I thought Boly was immense in this game Our Midfield were poor and our finishing was abysmal (except for Docs goal)

I still believe in Nuno but have to ask when will Dendoncker be considered?

I too have not been to the Rui love in lol . He is quality but is fucking up some of the basics and that's my issue.

You don't see Jota's worth on TV, he creates space, never stops moving and helps all over the pitch. Pretty much the opposite of Traore tbf.

I agree with that. Jota has looked much better. I don't think it's a coincidence that our front three and midfield haven't functioned as well without him there. He does so much work and is a real link between Boly, Neves, Jonny/ Vinagre and Raul.

I'd like to see MGW do the same work in the other position as I think both are really good footballers first and foremost,

I like Ruddy but he is not in the same league as Patricio. Nor does he have a great command of his area. He's a solid all round keeper who did a great job for us last season, I will always be grateful to him.

This is nonsense. Helder Costa has no credit in the bank at all. Yes, he's been a good player, but at Championship level. That's like saying your horse is entitled to win the Derby because it won a handicap at Newmarket. If you watch the game from last night Costa's sole contribution was a facial expression which was exactly the one we all used in the playground when the big boys took the ball off us.

There's the kernel of a decent point in there but realistically, who swaps keepers around like that?

And you think of what we've had to say to get a 75+ cap European champion to come and join us in the first place - it's not going to work out if we drop him and essentially say "we don't think you're up to facing these".

However he really must do better in situations such as the first goal. For me he is what I expected, a good keeper, a big upgrade no doubt, but miles away from the silly "world class" labels that people were throwing around. David de Gea and Ederson are world class, Rui Patricio has never been and will never be near that level.

Yeah I can see that happening. MGW deserves to start sooner or later and I think it's more likely to happen in that position.

Certainly on Wednesday I would think (or at least it's what I would do).

Means you go with one of Saiss or Dendoncker (is he even fit - odd for him to totally drop off the bench if he is) in centre mid and then run from there depending how we do.

Id rather one of Saiss or Dendonker played there if we were going to play 2 anyway. I'd love to see Dendonker, very odd for him to not be on the bench at least.

Leander wasn't on the bench because we like to have a wing back on the bench for away games generally. Still odd to play Saiss there ahead of him mind.

I'm hoping for Dendoncker and Moutinho in midfield Wednesday.

We may as well have had him there over Leo, if we have MGW, Jota and Cav on the bench then realistically he is never going to come on.

It is odd. We bought him to play centre back with good passing range, I get that Bennett was excellent for a while, but once he was dropped, why Saiss instead? I don’t understand that one.
