Bristol City 1 - 2 Wolves: Verdict thread

It was this phrase which annoyed people Jinky "Another big game and we don't turn up."

It wasn't about whether or not we looked like we would get anything from the game, which I would concur for the 13 minute period between their goal and the sending off it didn't look like we would. This team deserves a lot more respect than the 'you've let us down again' mentality.
Oh don’t get me wrong, I totally understand why Frank can rub people up the wrong way! And whilst I was critical of Douglas’ involvement in their goal & the way we were playing to try and get back in to the game, i’d never it was “over” or that we’ve bottled “another big game” during the match itself, as Nuno & the lads have earned more respect than that.

Whilst their sending off completely changed the game, the lads still had to go out there and show the character to win, which thankfully they did. It was an enormous show of character and two fingers up at anyone who questioned if we could hack it during the tougher months.

I think Johnson really fucked it for them though, as well.

The introduction of Cav, who provided some much needed energy, definitely helped but I can’t understand why Johnson left Flint up front. I can kind of understand it at 0-0, though I don’t think it worked especially well for them but when they scored he put him back there for 5 minutes and then put hlm up top again.

I understand he would have wanted his team to keep attacking and keep the pressure off his defence but you can do that with the players he had in their normal positions. Fortunately for us, he didn’t and the sending off came from space Doherty was able to find between their only centre back and full back. He will be regretting that massively

Exactly, and I’ll ask again, what other big games have we ‘not turned up’ in this season? We’d gone down to ten men to a debatable red card very early on, what were we meant to do play them off the park? Cav coming on changed the game, not their red card, that came about because of Cav.

I like Frank but he is a troll and he knows what hes doing.. Ropes a few of you lot in with ease for such an old bloke.

Probably their greatest manager I'd have thought. When I was I kid he was their boss when they were in Div 1, which I think is the last time they were there.

The old gentleman who isn't happy with Nuno celebrating the win is former Bristol City manager Alan Dicks, apparently.

And that gives him the right to push Nuno, does it? I've seen this a number of times now, and the old git's behaviour is a disgrace.

(Uh it looks to me like Nuno’s pumping his arms quite close to an old man’s head, so a little push back doesn’t seem outrageously inappropriate or petty to me...)

As an aside, if anyones recorded the game on Sky, when Fielding brings down Doherty, Daniel Man makes a full on Alan Partridge noise :)

I replied to his grandson on Twitter that he should have been done for assault.

No respect for the elderly these days.

I see OTIB are now moving on from the game to discussing the merits of our players and the prices we have/are paying them. OTIB goes FFP.

Well Ruddy and Bennett free and Douglas £1m is a good starting point for them...

There is one guy who has posted our real net spend of about £11m, rather than the fictional £50m, just nobody wants to hear it.

Fortunately, someone stepped in early, and pointed out that our squad is worth a bit, but we haven’t spent much money putting it together.

It only gets mentioned when you’re doing well, If Boro were top they’d say the same thing.

OTIB the forum that keeps on giving.

Football is nothing without passion so you understand the emotion but completely out of order the way Nuno behaved.
The club are not obliged to let the sent off manager into the directors box, it is a courtesy, somewhere to show respect.
Is it right he was stood up in there giving instructions on the phone all game? Christ talk about make yourself at home.
And his celebration, it's quite obvious what he was doing and who it was aimed at, he wasn't facing his fans for a start.
He was facing 70 year olds who had the good grace to accommodate him and who always show restraint and respect.
If he did this in the box of the President of Benfica/Porto, there'd be a brawl and the country would be in full meltdown.
So he knows exactly what he was doing and it's very sad. It's one of the reasons Portuguese football is a bit of a farce.
It's always about coaches egos and emotions, every bloody year the big story in Portugal is a manager-led free for all.

At least they feel comfortable enough to call him on a first name basis...they clearly love him as much as we do
