Bournemouth 1 Wolves 2: The verdict thread

I want us to progress but we have to be realistic. And realistically we aren't top four. I said top 10 is fine. But if we are serious about progressing our squad still needs more depth and quality. We have still not signed a player to improve the first 11.

Hard to beat, yes. Champions league standard? No

You didn't say that mate.

You said we made Europe last season and so we had to make it again this year or it was a backwards step.

Correct, but add context. I said the best chance of getting to Europe was the carabao cup so wanted us to go for it. Now we are out .

Squad's starting to look really thin now, but our ten game spell starts with a win, so can't ask for much more

super thin. i am loving donk as center half, im so confident and relaxed every time hes on the ball, not shitting myself like when benno is on it. if we can get a quality center mid like kessie january id be very happy, im not thrilled with the idea of neves and moutinho playing 95 mins every 2-3 days for two months, and having no option to go back to 3-5-2

'We are progressing & there is no obvious reason why we cannot kick on from here'.

Apart from injuries and bans.

Boly is injured until whenever, Bennett injured, apparently Adama was close to missing out today. Saiss is banned for the next PL game and Neves is 1 yellow away from a similar ban.

Well we do have an option as we have Kilman who can play in defence and Saiss back into midfield.

Can’t believe the moaning - we’re 5th, on a good run of form, and doing ok in Europa League - these are good times!

Yes we have injuries - most teams get them during the season. We do seem to have a few versatile players who can cover various positions which helps.

The fact that we are still in the upper reaches of the PL (& I know that a couple of defeats will drop us well down as it's tight below the top 4) & very close to qualifying for the Europa knockout stage is well beyond where I thought we would be at this stage.

Not something I have seen since a lot of you weren't here.

THiS, THIS and THIS again, so much entitled bullshit. Wolverhampton Wanderers are 5th and worse case 6th in the PL after 13 games whilst still likely to play in the knock out stages in the EL. You'd need to be nearly 60 to credibly remember better times

i disagree were "moaning". were merely pointing out that we have a thin squad due to injuries and bans. we MUST sign someone jan.

My post had nothing to do with the comments about a thin squad.

So we have a load of injuries, but we're 5th, but we desperately need new players?

Max Kilman is good enough to play for us. Otherwise he wouldn't be here.

As for the Jota disallowed goal not a VAR fault. Fault is with the assistant for the flag and the ref for not allowing play to continue. Pretty sure Mr Hooper will be getting a bollocking for blowing up to soon.

We don't desperately NEED players. A CB and CM would be nice though.

A couple of additions in Jan would help, but are not completely essential.

If the right players can be brought in at the right cost then just do it - if not there is no need for us to sign players that don't fit just for the sake of it.

Our issue is still that Nuno is afraid to use the bench because of the stark drop off in quality. Our only midfield replacements are playing CB

Moutinho signs a new deal that keeps him at wolves until 2022!

What a glorious day!

Who’s actually saying that?

To be honest, I'm getting close to saying it.
We're a really fucking good team. We play good football. Really good football.
We've an excellent coach with a top notch backroom team.
Depending on the next 10 games thread, there's a very real chance we could be putting ourselves in a phenomenally good position for 2020. Potentially imposing ourselves in that top 4 race.

Nuno & co will work hard to develop us in the new year. We'll see investment too, Jeffs been clear about this. Whether people are happy about this investment or not is another thing.

What people don't seem to grasp with us, is that absolutely nothing we do is done as a means of short termism. We look medium and long term. Hence no mad rush to rebuild the stadium. Hence signing players and working exceptionally hard to make them fit the systems we play. We don't spunk £50m on someone straight into the first team. We make wiser decisions, such as dendoncker, traore, bennett where we develop a team and system. I've no doubt that there's a ton of work being done with Cutrone, Kilman, Neto and Jordao amongst others. Whether it all works, it's sure as hell gonna be fun finding out.
