Bournemouth 1 Wolves 2: The verdict thread

There isn't, but equally if you look at the goal difference of the top 4 compared to ours the difference is stark. Would've been nice for us to do what Leicester did to Southampton, but que sera.

This should have been the game where we seriously improved our goal difference - play the second half in the same way as the 1st & we would have been out of sight (sending off or not)

We're 2-0 up against 10 men, we're playing Thursday, Sunday, Wednesday and we have a few injuries at the moment (Boly, Bennett, MGW) at a time when we don't have a very big squad.

We were quite right to conserve energy.

Why does VAR check if a goal should be disallowed but not for a goal to be allowed ??

Just had this chat with DW on Twitter.

If they ruled the goal legal after Hooper blows then their players goalie can claim they played to the whistle and stopped "I could've saved it if I tried"

I was lambasting VAR too but it is wholly on Hooper today, whether he's an arrogant cunt who doesn't want somebody doing his job for him, or an incompetent one remains to be seen.

I'm led to believe he blew as soon as Raul made the pass. You'd think it would be included in the assessors report.

It would have done, but the ref whistled play dead. If he'd let it go VAR would have given us the goal. Nothing it could do from that situation. It's shit refereeing and a shit PL directive to linesmen

Sorry to disappoint folks but we are not one of the top four teams. Not by some distance. Arsenal man united and Spurs are having poor seasons so we could get above them but the gap between the top four and us is there for a reason. Personally if we finish anywhere close to 7th we will have done really really well. Leicester are the only non big six team knocking on a top four place at the moment.

You are what the table says you are at the end of the season

I thought you were saying the other week that if we don't finish at least 7th then we've gone backwards and that's unacceptable?

the "offside" goal was a goal, the saiss yellow was a yellow. saiss just being stupid, yet again. brilliant pass leading to moutinhos goal though.

And we'd have won at Leicester but for a handball?

Fifth this year will do me just fine.

Fair enough - as long as we got the win, which we did, then that's acceptable

Don't think that many thought we would be in only our second season back (& Europa to contend with) - we are giving it a reasonable go though

I want us to progress but we have to be realistic. And realistically we aren't top four. I said top 10 is fine. But if we are serious about progressing our squad still needs more depth and quality. We have still not signed a player to improve the first 11.

Hard to beat, yes. Champions league standard? No

Cyber - you are doing the team a disservice. We are above Manchester United, Tottenham AND Arsenal. That's not too bloody bad.

Our major weakness is our attacking build up (in general). The top teams keep the ball and find space really well as they build and move up the pitch. We can do it, but just not as well as those top teams. That's why we often have poor possession stats.

Would agree that we don't have the depth of squad to really challenge at the top (see our bench today - not bad, but not at the top level)

Then again this is only our second season back & we are dealing with European games at the same time. We are progressing & there is no obvious reason why we cannot kick on from here.
