Aston Villa

What's the odds on them at the moment?

Shorter for relegation than promotion a couple of weeks ago. Bet it has changed now.

Hmmmm - checking

5/1 for promotion (lengthening)

6/1 for relegation (not shortening yet)

Notlob are messing those odds. With their players refusing to play against St Mirren after not being paid. Plus Rotherham are going to struggle. There is value for a 24th finish. 25/1.

I've already lumped a £10 on them going down at 12/1.

They have to sell Grealish, Chester, Adomah and Kodjia, they don't have an experienced goalie and Elphick will be a CB next season. Anyone else of value will probably be also sold

Words fail me for now on that statement. I don't have the energy right now to pick through the many, many, many holes in it and navigate through all the tortured logic. Maybe tomorrow.

I don't think they'll be rock bottom of the league though, no matter what a sham this is.

That's the least of what it says. It means they will go with what remains of the squad after selling everyone decent. A few kids will have to play. And they might just about to be able to sign frees as shit as Lonergan if they can get him to reduce his wage demands. And Steve Bruce will be in charge of this even though completely unsuited as Villa cannot afford to even think about paying him off, even if there were staff in situ that were authorised to do it.

They must be praying someone is stupid enough to offer compo for Bruce. Without that they are utterly dead and buried. The Walsall friendly is just to make sure their fans know the way around the Bescot up front.

24th next season, and that is before the inevitable admin removes a few points. Hopefully Blues are 23rd. Albion 22nd is possibly too much to hope for but that would be another season of perfection.

His one hope is Bruce walked at Hull when they went full basket case and wouldn't sign anybody.

Realistically Bruce could cozy upto a journalist and say it became unworkable and salvage part of his reputation just in time for the first round of sackings.

I posted earlier on the thread why they won't go down squad wise. Not sure Bruce is going to knowingly plod around the lower mid table of the Championship though. He'll walk, but not until he's lined himself up something better.

He'll want to save face though, and won't resign purely because he can't spend money. He'll have to come up with a way of making it seem he had no choice.

He definitely won't last the season, probably not even until Christmas.

There’s taking risks at getting promoted and there’s being damn right reckless and Villa have done the latter. I could be celebrating my 50th before Villa are back in the PL.

Ironically mate I was 50 when they got relegated so I'm hoping you're right :)

13 years until I reach that age but Forrest will have been out the Pl 20 years this season, Sheff Weds 18 and Leeds 16.
All clubs who’d claim to be big and yearning a spot back at the top table.

That's about 1.2 million a week,to keep them going! Before you do anything else, crazy money

Your DOF is negotiating a deal which is better than the one you currently have on the table for a player you absolutely have to sell, conventional wisdom wouldn't be to sack him mid negotiations.

Now is the time to lump on relegation before the administration and 30 point deduction...

Nope, the time was when I told you to get on it at 28/1, before the news about the tax issues and Wyness being suspended officially broke ;) Then you could have cashed out right now for a very tidy profit without a ball being kicked.

They're too skinny to back for relegation at the moment. There's still some total dross in the bottom half of the Championship, I don't think they'll actually go. This year anyway.
