Aston Villa 1-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

On Podence’s injury

“We lost Daniel Podence in the half who is a very important player for us to have on the ball and in control of the situation.

“We don’t know how he’s going but he had problems in the first-half and he couldn’t continue in the second-half. This was a pity because we wanted to overcome Aston Villa from having the ball and of course Daniel Podence is a very important player for us in this kind of situation.

Nor is Kilman atm, clearly.

At least Toti clearly gives a damn when he plays.

He’s been better than Collins the past 4 matches to me so agree to disagree. Though Collins was better today.

I don’t think Kilman doesn’t care, he does. He’s just clearly low on confidence at the moment and perhaps took for granted Bueno would cover.

Kilman is a sample of a problem we’ve had in other areas: players out of form but no one to replace them, so we persevere and damage their confidence further.

It’s going to be 3 from saints, Wolves, Everton, Forrest, Bournemouth and Leeds.
Before xmas a lot of us gave us around a 20-30% chance of survival that’s probably up to about 50% now we’ve probably got the best ability to bring in more players than the rest to.

Not to imply that Kilman doesn't care, but he doesn't express it the same way on the pitch, and I really think we could use some of that fire as we tend to shrink under pressure.

You don’t count the Hammers in amongst it? I certainly would…

Fair result in the end. Thought we gave our best first half performance in yonks. Just a pity that only translated into a slender one goal lead. But what a great goal from Podence. Brilliant interplay between him and Moutinho and then that little bit of trickery before firing it into the net. Wonderful goal. Interested to know why he went off. Second half they, as expected, played much better and we, as expected, went into our shell a bit. No surprise Ings scored against us. In fact, no surprise Ings scored full stop, as he's a quality finisher. Glad he didn't start. However, despite his heroics just before their goal, with what I thought was gonna be a match winning clearance off the line, Max Kilman has to take a long hard look at himself tonight and ask why he's ambling back like he doesn't give a flying fuck, in the build-up to their equaliser. He should have been busting a gut to get back but he's jogging back like it's a training session! He's much better than that. Pity because there's a semblance of a decent CH partnership with him and Collins. However, Kilman needs to get over whatever's distracting him or else he'll find himself demoted to the bench. Despite all that, a precious point in our fight against the dreaded drop, especially given Bailey's miss right at the death and him leaving the field in tears 🤣 UTW!

My theory on Traore is he's put on too much muscle, he can't run like he used to. Even on Saturday when he did better than tonight it was more bulldozing through players than beating them for pace. He was right in front of me tonight, he cant get going.

Think if Nunes scores we go on to win and the defending for 2 loopy balls over the top I wouldn't have from an U12s team. Thought Collins had a very good game as did Bueno with the exception of his part in the goal. I don't like the playing out from the back, too much risk for too little reward imo. Looks like an accident waiting to happen

I'm not understanding why people are so negative. After 12 months of being dogshit we actually look like a football team. Anyone expecting us to dominate 90 minutes are deluded after 3 games of the JL tenure.
We all know we need some additions, 4 points from the last 3 games seems pretty good to me.
I'm more confident of staying up now than at any time since the start of the season. Of course we can still go down but we appear to have the right people in charge of the squad now.

Killman needs to get over what’s distracting him, it’s probably something stupid like having Ukrainian parents, relatives probably getting bombed on a regular basis, not knowing what’s going on, but yea just man up eh? How dare he get distracted by that

Watching the highlights (hi, insomnia), Hwang could easily have gone and regardless of the semantics of the rules, I think it's handball from Bueno. Got away with two there.

I'll decide how I contribute thank you very much, funny I've never seen anyone question a positive reaction to one of their posts but you throw a little emoji out there that isn't definitively positive and people sure do get inquisitive.

I don't often see the point in dredging up posts from pages back to reply to, particularly if someone else has already covered my view in the intervening period, but the reactions are a great way to get an indication of your opinion out there in those situations.
