Aston Villa 1-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

I think Johnny is pretty much spot on, to be honest, it’s the options that are the problem currently. In fairness the front three were pretty good today and Lop seems to be on the way to solving the Podence riddle that previous managers have failed on. I also don’t think he’s obsessed with solving the Adama one.

Drop the attitude, darling. I said in the matchday thread we needed a second goal when we were on top & that’s what I was referring to. Nothing more, nothing less.

Why should we exclude Forest? They’re a direct rival to us and have won tonight and took a point off Chelsea at the weekend. West Ham & Leeds both getting a point mean they’ve equaled us tonight - therefore it’s an opportunity missed for us to make some headway on them by holding on for the win.

I’m not sure there’s “certainly” three teams worse than us. Saints & Everton are in woeful form but I expect both to turn a corner eventually. Everyone else from Forest to Bournemouth & above keep picking up results. We need to turn results like tonight in to wins and losses like the weekend just gone in to draws sharpish or we’re bang in trouble.

That said, obviously I’m more optimistic now than when we had the charlatan in charge, but we need quality signings through the door quick.
Seriously? Bournemouth lost all three games since the World Cup, they've picked up 3 points since 15 October. Leeds and West Ham drawing was the ideal result for us, you'd have been pant-wetting even more if one of them won. Forest have 4 points from their last 3 - same as us. I've seen nothing about Everton and Southampton to suggest they'll improve but we won't - toxic negativity has consumed those clubs and the managers are shit.

Only Forest also have 4 points from their last 3, it really isn't a bad return. You'd have thought Villa battered us based on your outlook.

Adama has always had goals on a Wednesday effort, Sunday league brain, Championship ability and then best in the world pace. He doesn’t seem to have that level of pace anymore so he’s a complete waste of time. Even more so in a team trying to press coherently.

I just don’t think he really wants to be here and hasn’t for about 18 months now.

Just seen the highlights. Incredible clearance from Kilman, then just complete lazy ball watching as it sailed over his head to Ings. Unlucky for Sa to slip it he may have saved it.

4 points from these 3 games is a move in the right direction. I seriously thought we’d have had about 1 and be adrift. We’re clearly harder to beat already and the players don’t rollover once going behind.

Sa was crap tonight, slips on the goal but very fortunate to not cost us a point and his kicking was really poor. If the reports Lopetegui wants a keeper are accurate, you can see why.

We're set up properly. We need some new players.

Would have snatched your hand off for four points on Christmas Day. We'd have 0 under Fuckface.

It’s true. We wouldn’t have comeback against Everton and tonight Villa would have won that.

We are finally seeing what Nunes is about though. Being played in the right position and he was brilliant tonight, Collins similarly excellent.
He's doing more but he does some weird stuff too.

That one in the first half where he had the ball wide in a decent position but ran it back to his own half and looped a bizarre backpass at his own corner flag, the fuck is that about? He had a brainfart against United too that dropped Neves in the shit.

He definitely brings things to the table that other midfield options don't but he seems a bit brainless to me at times too.

Well then he’s not going to get a good deal anywhere…

He’s no different to how he’s always been, he just doesn’t beat people for fun anymore.

We’re three points from 13th and ourselves and Forest are the only teams in the glut around us to register a win since the World Cup. Bournemouth, Southampton, Everton and West Ham all last won in October.

It may be that everyone else is pants but there’s a clear upward trajectory and 20 games left with others around us falling like a brick. We have a manager who has won the Europa League and has made us look vastly improved inside three games. There will still be errors but it’s far flung from three months ago.

It isn’t over by any means.

Yeah, never feel Adama will actually convert. Would honestly rather see hwang stay out there, at least he busts a gut to close down

I figured it out.

Hwang is my Dave Edwards.
