My word - the front page of the Heil is ace. Plus it contains a handy eight page pull out on tactical voting to keep out the Labour super-majority.

The right wing press is absolutely shitting itself about July 4

“A constant of the extreme right is their denial of scientific warnings about the climate and ecological emergency.”

Thousands of French scientists are sounding the alarm of what a far-right government would mean for science and the climate.

In a letter signed by over 3,000 scientists, they outline their concerns ahead of the first round of the French elections for the national assembly on Sunday.

The far-right National Rally (RN) are leading the polls with around 35% of the vote following the decision by French president Emmanuel Macron to call a snap election after the results of the European elections earlier this month.

“The RN is opposed to all ecological measures: taxes on fossil fuels, electrification of transport, safeguarding biodiversity, reducing the use of pesticides, slowing down the artificialisation of land and limiting road transport,” the scientists say in the open letter.

“The RN promises us a concrete, tarred, polluted, overheated and lifeless world. And yet, according to this party, all ecological measures are "punitive". Which way is truly punitive?”

Climate change has not been a main topic of debate in the campaign.

The first round of the elections will be held on Sunday where candidates who receive enough votes to add up to 12.5% of registered voters in their constituency will go through to the second round on 7 July.

It's actually smart from him to put all the focus on the one guy, because it stops any scrutiny from the blatantly homophobic and fascist stuff those undeniably high up in the Party said.

I’m genuinely interested in why you are so dead certain you are right? I don’t know what is right or wrong, but I do think zealotry is unhelpful whatever your view. I’m guessing you are not an economist so I would like to understand why you are so set that your view is right?

Here you go. I've had a mad week and wanted to give a proper response but this bloke does a much better job.

Rare to for me give Bruce any praise but she did give him a grilling on it. One thing she could have pointed out was there was 2 people in the C4 news item, both as bad as each other, and there’s no batshit accusations that the 2nd guy was an actor.

My word, Farage would be embarrassed by that propaganda.

There's even a lie in the first paragraph.

Government's do not print money. The bank does. It's independent of government for a reason. That's before you get to interest rates, supply fluctuations (which he dismisses as not inflationary 🤣), labour fluctuations, debt limits, wages costs.

You. Can't. Print. Money. Without. Consequences.

I spent a lot of time in Zimbabwe in the early 2000s, printing money and hyper-inflation does not go well.

Yeah, because that's always what happens. 🙄 If there is a joined up economic strategy of gradually printing more money while combining that with creating new goods and services for that money to be spent on, it is a proven successful strategy used by many governments to boost the economy. "Inflation does not occur if the rate of increase in supply is consistent with the increase of money in stock". That's not me saying that, it's fucking capitalist economist Keynes.

So the whole printing money leads to inflation argument is a fallacy based on a lack of understanding of the basic tenet that it has to go hand in hand with other economic measures. But if you want to be gaslit into believing an economic mistruth, you knock yourself out.

It's not really independent though. It's ultimately answerable to the govt.

He also talks about necessary spending, as opposed to just giving everyone 200k.

High street banks have been creating money for ages now as well. Only they and the BoE are allowed to do so.

There's a reason furlough was able to happen and there's a reason the govt can cover everyone's savings up 85k.
