Welcome to Wolves Emmanuel Agbadou

That's not what you said. You said we wouldn't sign another CB because we already had enough.

Vítor will ask for another CB. Whether we get one over the line and the quality of the player if we do is a completely different issue.
I'm talking about what the club will do, not what we should do.

They'll look at CB as adequately populated.

According to your earlier post we already have 8
We do, but Dawson isn't even registered and Mosquera is crocked.

As you know.

Perhaps you skipped past this post?

Given how historically we have undersupplied the squad, I am amazed anyone thinks we will intentionally have 6 players for 3 places come September.

How many CBs did Hobbs want at the start of this season? He wanted Bueno off out on loan too.

“It’s important, because playing with a left foot on the left side is easier,” said Pereira. “I want Toti to make overlaps, to cross and create superiority from the back and to do it with a right foot is difficult on the left. So we need to find another (left-footed) one. We need two with this profile.”
I didn’t realize Toti was right-footed! Does pretty well with his left IMO. Underrated crossing ability, accepting he isn’t often in a position to put one in.

Pretty sure Toti is left footed, think he means that we don't have a back up that is left footed? That's why we need 2?

It does read odd.

With agba and mosquera we could hypothetically play 4 ATB.
Oh no, what have you done

If André is in front of them, maybe. But with how the modern game is played, a 4 just feels inherently dangerous to me. It only takes a tiny gap to get exploited.

IMO, of course.

There are very few elite teams playing 3 at the back for a reason though. We, of course, aren't an elite team but there's no denying that it does limit us. If all we're aiming for is survival at any cost then it serves its purpose for now. Personally, I remain unconvinced that 3 at the back is actually how Vítor would prefer to play but he's also smart enough to play the hand that he's been dealt rather than trying to implement a tactical philosophy with a group of players and in a situation which doesn't suit it.

One thing that people have, again, ignored in this is that although he's played a defensive line of 3 he doesn't want that line to be made up of 3 centre halves as he feels that limits us in build up. There are obvious questions there which will only be answered in time; does he see Toti (and potentially Mosquera when he returns) as being able to provide what he wants from that 3rd defender in build up despite them physically profiling as centre halves? He's talked about wanting Toti to overlap and get crosses in, is that a sign of that or is that just what he expects from his outside centre half?

On André playing as a 6... Vítor said recently that he's realised that André plays that single pivot role more naturally and struggles (btw, if this is André struggling I can't wait to see how good he is in when he's more comfortable!) when he has to play alongside someone in a double pivot. I wonder if we might see something like this eventually:

---------------GK

-------RCB CB LCB

----------------6

RWB ---- 8 ---- 8 ---- LWB

----------RFW LFW

Dropping into a 3-5-2 out of possession.

If we do I can't wait to hear people moaning about André 'holding hands' with Agba.

It would suit a number of our current squad players though. Bellegarde & Doyle are certainly better in 3 man midfields, Bouba would probably suit one as well. It'd allow João Gomes to affect the game further forwards which he's more than capable of.

Strand Larsen was used as more of a wide forward playing off Iago Aspas at Celta rather than the lone 9 we've seen him as in his first season at Molineux so depending on who we signed to play up front with him that might actually get the best out of him. If/when we lose Cunha, Sarabia & Forbs we've basically got no wingers left apart from Guedes & Hwang who may leave anyway and probably prefer to play more centrally if they do stay.

Once Nelson goes all our wing back options are more wing than back so they'd definitely suit the freedom that shape would offer them as well.

All speculation of course and I don't suppose we'll have any idea until we see the type of player we target in the summer or even until we start to play pre season games.

Doubt we will ever see Andre holding hands with Agba as one of his biggest strengths is receiving the ball with his back to goal and moving the ball out of a press taking 2 or 3 players out the game. He’s not really shown himself to be a drop deep and hit diagonals type of player.

He's right. But I'll believe it when I see it.

We haven't had more than 1 first team adequate striker under Fosun have we?

6 CBs for 3 spaces?
It's just two decent options for each position, no?

As it stands, Toti is the only option that can comfortably play at LCB.

Of course. Just can't see the club (Hobbs) being that logical. Look how sparse they've left us in the past.

He would have loaned Bueno if he could have last season, he thought we had enough.

He was also told by the manager he'd be playing with a 2 who then went to a 3 so ended up even more light One of our issues is we never seen to have a promising youngster coming through the Academy to become a 4th or 5th choice option for any position. We have the likes of Pond who couldn't get a game in League 2 when out on loan or Meupiyou who I'm assuming is further away than they thought they'd be. 5 plus that Academy talent would be ideal.
