Wolves vs Reading. The too-full-of-turkey Matchday Thread

Doherty, EEL and Edwards are all so bad. Tragic excuses for footballers.

Dave Edwards really is gash isn't he?

Edit: hadn't even seen DW's post :icon_lol:

Disappointingly high shot from Henry.
He seems to have no real idea about how to strike a ball. So often his crossing hopeless as was a cross he made earlier in the game which went about 20 feet over the bar.
that shot was unopposed and he had a clear sight of the goal, but just lifted it 6 feet over the bar from about 10 yards out.

Wolves really have no game plan outside of pace of Afobe/Iorfa in behind or give it to Graham and hope for the best, appalling lack of footballing acumen, it's Sunday League tactics.

Reading have knocked it around better in the middle of the park but they've rarely looked like they know how to create chances from there, fortunately for them you'd expect EEL will do his level best to help them out in that regard, though by the look of their shooting so far it still not be enough help for them.

We need to get our act together defensively. We've not exactly looked brilliant going forward but Reading look very suspect themselves. Afobe is always dangerous and Henry's goal was the easiest goal from a set piece you'll ever see.

10 seconds there that sums Edwards up. Receives the ball just outside the area with a bit of time and space. A better #10 could've had a shot, picked a pass, or just done something with it. Instead, his pass backwards falls woefully short. But he makes up for it by being able to, y'know, run quickly and harass the Reading player making off with his gift.

Still, quite an entertaining first half. We do look more capable of scoring than we have recently. Unfortunately, we still look capable of conceding every time Reading go forward.

Pleeeease build on the lead this time (or at least hold on to it!)

Laughably bad at the back. Graham and Afobe causing them all sorts of problems - Henry inconsistent but has done some very good bits (frustratingly thick sometimes).

Forgot Edwards was playing for about fifteen minutes. Midfield so easy to pass through when Vydra drops in. Best Iorfa has played for a while I'd say too.

Here's a summary of our 1st half efforts...

17:09 Goal! Wolverhampton Wanderers 1, Reading 0. James Henry (Wolverhampton Wanderers) header from very close range to the high centre of the goal. Assisted by Jordan Graham with a cross following a set piece situation.

0:00 First Half begins

What's that?
4 attempts with 1 on target - which was a goal?

Can't believe we're in front!

Is that six assists for Graham now? He's becoming our most important player.

And with Ikeme flying across his goal like a self propelled crucifixion, a 40 yard thunderbolt from Norwood flies past him but hits the post about a yard down from the top and bounces clear.
Jesus! That was a great shot.
About halfway between the box and the half way line. It was a Long way out and Ikeme would have had no chance nor would he have been close if that would have been 8" to the left...

Another penalty appeal gets turned down, this time for Reading as Henry has his hand in the mioddle of the forward's back and he falls to the floor!
very little pressure from Henry, certainly not a push... but his hand was on him!

A long curling diagonal free kick comes in to our box and everyone watches it curling in then it fucking bounces (!!) and EEL and Doherty leave it to each other with a Reading man trying to get a foot on it and he does, but Ikeme just as guilty, watches it go inches wide.
Appalling defending.

I see that everyone in the South Bank seems to be standing....

That master crosser Henry just took a corner, and I know this will surprise many of you, but with everyone jostling for position in the goal area, the ball came in about 12" off the ground and bounced several times before it was cleared.
I mean just what the fuck does Henry think about when he's about to strike the ball?

Just a matter of time until they score here. We are getting deeper and deeper.
