I see from the teams named, pretty much everybody has dropped Moutinho and brought in Vitinha.

On what basis are people doing this?

I guess they're seeing them as similar style players and Vitinha isn't 53 having played nearly every minute of every game for the last 3 seasons

Same XI that started for me, with Traore and Neto where they played in the second half.

Do we know how far away Boly is? Podence still a few weeks isnt he?

Nuno said that Boly and Podence were out of the Southampton games which I thought was strange. No need to rush them back though now.

Clearly the data shows that Moutinho is fit enough to play all the games he does, else he'd have been rested against Southampton in the Cup. I can't really understand why anyone would want to tinker with dropping Moutinho after a good (2nd half!) team performance against Southampton especially for Vitinha who has done very little to suggest he can impact a game the same way as Moutinho?

It would be a huge gamble to partner Neves with Vitinha, i'm amazed that it's being suggested, it'd just be changing for changes sake.

Moutinho hasn’t his a forward pass in 2021 and has looked slower than Fabio which takes some doing. He looks knackered from the 10th minute. Ok he scored a worldly to beat Arsenal but little else. The energy Neves gave coming further forward is what joao gave us before this year. I fear his legs have gone or he needs a rest or both!
Vitinha or Otasowie are the right replacement and I go with the latter to allow Neves to push forward. You are going to have to cover a lot of ground against Leeds. That’s a young mans job.

Amazed at people having a different (majority) opinion has made me laugh this morning.

Opinions, opinions.

I am fascinated with the clamour for Otasowie which has to be based on about fifteen minutes this year. Of which fourteen of them were largely crap.

Otasowie is the new MGW.

He was great against Chelsea then played as some sort of false 9 against Burnley then has had about 10 minutes this year. He is touted as we do not have that many viable options.

I may agree or disagree, but I don't understand why wanting to see more of players who are regularly in the first team squad anyway is either controversial (Vitinha) or worthy of mockery (Owen)

We have nothing really to play for now so may as well see if these players can do a job. Especially in CM where neither Moutinho or Donk have exactly been undroppable this season!

It's not like anyone's picking Hoever, RAN, Vitinha, Otasowie and Fabio in the same team.

I do find it mildly amusing that Otasowie gets picked in so many teams on such scant evidence but it's not like he's rubbish, he's a very good talent that we need to nurture.

However given that we're short on resources (we've effectively lost a midfielder by having to move Donck back into the back three) and he STILL isn't even getting a minute then it's wishful thinking at best.

Vitinha is a bit of a different bag as we haven't played him where we're supposed to and so I can't make a proper assessment of him at the moment - plus we kind of need to know if he's any good as we have a decision to make fairly soon on whether to pay a chunky sum for a young fella with very little senior football behind him (again). Then again I'm more reticent to jump all over Moutinho than most of our fans, being as he's the best footballer I've ever seen us have in 30+ years.

It feels like the right time to try out these young players as we've nothing to play for, we need to look at Vitinha to see if he's worth spending the money but it would be good to see a bit more of Otasowie, would also like to see MGW be given a good amount of time to see if he can fulfill his promise or to put him in the shop window. Tricky to get them all some game time and keep some sort of continuity in the team though.

Didn't watch the Chelsea game then? The one where he was played in his correct position?
