Wolves / Covid-19

Can only see it was 10 for and 10 against at the moment

As many as that? Last time thought it was a lot closer.

The injuries thing is definitely overblown. For example if Boly has picked up a muscle injury that will be used in the stats despite him being well rested after having the weekend off.

Does fatigue increase risk of injury - yes. So tell Klopp to use the 3 subs he has available and stop playing Robertson every minute of every game (and bringing him on as a sub) when he’s literally bought Tsimikas in the summer.

Surely the number of subs on the bench will have to change to cover the 'concussion substitutes' which I think will happen

City unhappy the 5 subs thing didn’t happen even though Pep’s made 1 sub total in the last 3 games.

I wouldn't have thought so, concussions are rare in football and there will always be one sub spare. Doesn't need 9 at all, just gives the big clubs with big squads more options.

What i don't understand is why do they keep having a vote on it? This is 3 times now, are they just going to continue to vote on it until the big boys get the result they want?

While they chose to reject the five substitute proposal, the Premier League clubs have voted in principle to introduce permanent concussion substitutions.

Teams will be able to use up to two additional replacements per game if players are suspecting of sustaining, or diagnosed with, a concussion.

The move comes after the International Football Association Board (IFAB) - which governs the laws of the game - approved the rule change on a trial basis on Wednesday.

The Premier League will now apply to IFAB to take part in the trial, which begins next month.

The FA have said they will allow 5 subs in FA Cup matches.

Vote for 5 subs was 10 10 - I assume Southampton, Brighton and Albion are hoping for loans from the big 6 so kissed ass

Not necessarily. Rugby League, for example, only has 4 subs and has a 10 minute HIA, where one of those 4 subs are used without affecting the interchange.

just a thought, but with some teams claiming covid related problems and getting their matches postponed, perhaps we should have done this too. Time then for our injured players to recover !!!!;)

Premier League to vote on PPG if season curtailed after 29 games played. We need to pick points up PDQ for obvious reasons and Villa will be in Champions League at this rate.

I don't understand why this wasn't decided before the start of the season, it was always going to be a possibility.

Is there a link to the proposal as it stands? I assume we would finish where we are now, that's not the end of the world - I doubt in reality we will finish much higher.

If we get to Game Week 29 for all clubs the season is continuing. That takes us into the point where restrictions should be starting to lift as the Vaccination programme kicks in.

No real shock here but all Prem games until the end of Feb will be live on TV.

So with the Quarantine rule when returning from Portugal, South America & South Africa inc elite sports are we in for a tricky situation when the next batch of International games happens? we could lose 4 or 5 players for 10 days after they return.

Can we prevent players from going away or will we try to trick the system and tell the players to drive Spain then pop on a plane from there?

In reality, UEFA/FIFA should cancel the next round of games while countries have restrictions on travel but can't see that happening

As I put in the General Football thread it gets more interesting for Arsenal and Benfica. Arsenal have to travel to Portugal to play but every person that goes, has to quarantine for 10 days. Then of course their opponents pop over for the 2nd leg and instantly have to quarantine, meaning they can't play the game.

Clearly not thought through by Boris's buffoons (surprise, surprise). It's feast or famine with this lot. There is surely minimal risk if it's a chartered flight and a Covid-secure environment is maintained. Everyone involved can be monitored/contact traced. It's tourists who are the problem.
