Wolves / Covid-19

tbf it's only a deferral, to be paid pack in 4 installments once the season resumes. Seems perfectly sensible in the face of such a massive drop in income, and may be able to protect the jobs of non-playing staff

nice to see twattish replies from Villa fans. Stones and glass houses spring to mind

I see the boss of UEFA is now saying the season might effectively be lost. That would presumably see us kicking off against Crusaders or whoever at the end of July again (if footy is back by July, which I doubt). And I suspect Leeds would also claim they don't have to pay £15m for Costa

I doubt Leeds could back out. The deal wasn't conditional on them being promoted, and unless we've got a work experience kid writing our contracts it'll say that the transfer becomes permanent on a certain date, not after a season.

Anyway I read the UEFA quote as talking about their competitions not domestic competitions.

His statement is a bit double talk really he’s also said that this season could be finished when next season starts.

It's an odd statement, he says there's a plan A, B and C then proceeds to say the season could continue at the start of next season.

Certainly seems to be covering all the bases which effectively ends up with him saying nothing at all really.

The “null and void” brigade have started getting excited by the statement without reading it properly

Browsing social media it looks like Moutinho is on lockdown somewhere a little warmer than a suburb of Wolverhampton. Did any other players make it out the UK?

Pretty sure Vinagre is back in Portugal as well.

Domestic football must take priority and that means cancelling Euros altogether. Finish this season, have a short break and go again with a new season into next summer if necessary. There are likely to be further limits on activity as winter comes around which risks punctuating next season too. All International football should be suspended until domestic football is back on track.

Bang on.

If and when it does restart there might be a few porky players around. Can't imagine all of them being totally self disciplined.
Be a few injuries as well I'd imagine.
Could be interesting.

The latest breaking news is that the season will be ended this Friday (not null and void) and Liverpool will be awarded a smaller/half trophy but begin next season as defending champions. Hmmmmm...
