Wolves Academy Thread

He's gone back to the level we took him from 2? years ago (and to the bottom team) which tells you a lot

Surely it must be shocking recruitment if a guy we signed as future prospect has regressed in the time he has been here?

He was in Wrexhams first team at an early age, I guess he just hasn't developed into the player we hoped or at least not at the speed.

Sometimes players just don't work out. It's not an exact science.

He might go down to Telford and smash in loads of goals between now and the end of the season

If he was signed as a prospect - which I believe he was - then it's clearly a case of no or very little progression, not regression. As Alan says, it isn't an exact science and could be down to any one or number of speculative factors. To blame the recruitment team (or in other words set a target of 100% of all prospects improving and making the first team) is rather unfair IMO.

Just following in the footsteps of Bostock, Nardiello and Morisson as players that should be great but end up as lower league journeymen.

I think our youth recruitment has a pretty average record in terms of players coming through but it's a bit early to judge (under Thelwell and Sellars) as youth systems that MM has left at a club tend to take years to recover.

Bradley Reid is one of those big whole hearted bustlers who once in their stride are difficult to shake off the ball. The smarter side of football is not part of his make up however. If he makes a living at Walsall standard he will have done well for himself, the games moved on.

u18s beat Derby 3-0. Niall Ennis hat trick!

This is it, the hit rate is by its very nature very up and down. I will say that based on what I have seen of him, I'm not sure why we bothered as he isn't *that* big and strong (not really in the same league as Vokes, let alone your Lukaku types), no pace, no skill, I can't imagine any of that looked that different when he was playing for Wrexham. But you'll get some right and you'll get some wrong, no-one cares about this kind of signing if you're getting enough in this area right. Hause for instance who looks like a Championship player already, even if he is a slightly awkward fit at left back and we have a better one available and sitting on the bench. I'm looking forward to seeing him at centre half at some point in the nearish future.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if he was involved in the u21s squad towards the end of the season to give him a taste of what is coming next.

Reading through his tweets it seems the u15s beat QPR 9-0 last week!

Just realised that Wolves have a young Danish centre back Victor Wagner Pedersen, who was signed from Esbjerg in 2013 on a 2 year contract. Read about him in a feature article about Danish talents, so I guess he is quite rated. Does anyone know anything about him?

I remember that now, have never heard anything about him since. How old was he when he signed?

First and third are very good finishes.
