Wolves Academy Thread

Another good finish. Hard to make out but Ronan looked to be the one pulling the strings, heard good reviews about him.

Played for Ireland u17's today and did very well, by all accounts, setting up one of their goals in a 3-1 win over Belarus, with a slide rule pass.
Hearing good things about this lad.
Looks like he has chosen to play for Ireland instead of England.

...

Zeli Ismail completed 45 minutes for the u21s in a development friendly today. They won 4-1, Donovan Wilson with hat trick

I've heard good things about Wilson, think he could be good next season off the bench.

He certainly seems to score for fun at that level.

He's only 17 too, so plenty of time for him to develop. I was glad to see Zeli is coming back to fitness, he wouldn't be a terrible 4th option if we are struggling in wide areas.

Youngsters Harry Burgoyne, Tendai Matinyadze and Aaron Hayden sign first pro deals with Wolves

A thin crop this year, no? Don't we usually offer six or seven kids contracts at this stage of the season?

I'd have signed Matinyadze just to fuck with the kit staff.

Not to say that will be the last of the deals offered of course. Also first year scholars who make up a fair chunk of the U18 team aren't old enough yet.

I personally feel he should be in front of Doyle in the pecking order. Jackett has done a lot for this club and his stance on bringing in the kids should have stood here as well. Bringing in a bloke that has been bombed out for two years is a bit of a piss take.

But do you put a player in if you feel they aren't ready though? If the general feeling around the club was Kieta had not progressed or gone backwards he won't get in the 18. KJ has shown if he feels they are ready they are in. He put 2 (Iorfa & Hause) on the back of a shit run of form.

Keita is only nineteen too. He's been on our bench, been the 19th man even this season. What does he expect? Maybe he could have been ahead of Doyle/Clarke but you can also understand why he isn't

Well he is either impatient, been tapped up or has a shite attitude or if you hate all things Wolves - its KJ's/Moxey/Morgan's fault.

I can understand his frustration being behind Clarke, Doyle and sometimes us not naming a striker at all on the bench. It doesn't point to him getting games here any time soon so if he has an offer from elsewhere which offers more opportunities then he's right to go and take it. No point him signing for another two years here and not playing.

I guess the next stage in his progression would have been a loan deal to start getting the game experience

Yeah the fact we've named multiple defenders and no strikers on the bench pisses me off! let alone if I was a young striker!

I'm sure we'd have sent him out, which is fine, but if he feels that he should be competing for a spot now then that isn't really that helpful. It's his career at the end of the day, he's decided there is something better elsewhere for him/he can't get what he wants here and we move on. We offered him presumably decent new terms, the only other thing we could have done is give him first team football. As you rightly say if the manager doesn't feel he is ready for that (and he sees him every day) then we can't just chuck him in to keep him happy.

For the record I think he should have been ahead of Clarke at some point because Clarke is shit.
