Wolves 3 - 0 Huddersfield: Verdict Thread

Byrne for me. Ojo was back to his Brighton level today, rarely took Cranie on after the yellow card, frustrating. Byrne looks the more direct and threatening player.

Don't think there's much between the two of them on today's showing, Ojo looks talented but has about as much purposefulness as RVLP, Byrne looked a lot busier and more driven but wasn't anymore effective in doing so.

Huddersfield looked dangerous in the first quarter of the first half but once Carayol realised he was going to get very little out of Iorfa he seemed to just give up and started hanging around much deeper making it easier to nullify him.

Iorfa was superb attacking and defensively, if he can whip more balls into the box that Henry missed he'll be the complete full back. Ojo was hit and miss, after the booking he could've caused no end of problems with a defender on a yellow and scared of putting a foot in, McDonald was imperious. Afobe was doing my head in during the first half I won't lie but he came alive during the second half and burst a gut to get into a good position for his first. ALF was industrious and got into some excellent positions between defenders etc hopefully he and Afobe will start linking like today on a regular basis.

Great win before the break, much harder test awaits with Derby. Onwards and upwards

With Danny Batth the defence looks a millions times better and better organised. Good partnership developing with Hause.

Think he's made the difference to the team imo, a proper leader and organiser, together with Price.

Great result and sounds like a decent second half performance, pleased that Kmac is starting show his skills more often and a couple of goals will do his confidence no harm. the defence also must now be full of belief with 3 clean sheets out of 4 and Danny really marshalling them.

Danny was excellent. Really makes the difference at the back. Hause looks so good next to him.

Danny has made a real difference - you could see him talking all the time, actually given how quiet the crowd was for most of the game you could actually hear him.

Afobe still looked incredibly lethargic until he had the shot that Steer saved well, after that much more lively & took his second really well. We need him firing properly.

Standouts for KMac, Iorfa (who had a superb second half), Batth, Price & Martinez.

Golbourne though frustrates - doesn't seem quite right & very tentative when he got forward. You have to think that maybe its him who misses Sako the most.

We are so much better when Price is playing. MacDonald plays with far more confidence, Price is always available for the ball and the whole side benefits. Great game also from Henry and Batthi brings much more stability to the defence. Martinez loooking very safe and assured now. Iorfa great defensively and when he sorts out his final ball we will have a hell of a player. My only concern is if Jackett brings back Coady and Edwards now. They are fine as impact subs but no more than that at the moment.

Good performance in the 2nd half, had they taken the several chances we gifted them in the 1st half may have different. Price and Iorfa the standouts for me. Le Fondre should be ashamed of the blatant dive to win a penalty at 2 up, he may well have been expecting contact but to capitulate like that was shameful. Good to see when Afobe actually gets in the penalty area he scores, maybe we should tell him he's not a trequartista and actually play him up top instead.

With Price and Batth playing we have 2 very vocal players organising the team and leading. Without them we lack direction.

The left side for me still seems an issue, Ojo was ok but the weakest on the pitch. Ojo looks too relaxed, and it shows in his movement off the ball. Byrne was busy but ineffective, hopefully this is just due to the step up to first team championship football for both of them and they impressive as the season goes on.

It was penalty. Look at the reaction of the goalkeeper, he was ready to walk, so he must have known there was contact.

He rolled around a fair bit in the Fulham game. Slightly concerning, but nowhere near enough to spoil the result.

Seen numerous replays there is no contact. I was at the game and saw no reason for him to go down unless he was fouled. He wasn't.

It wasn't a penalty - ALF should have stayed on his feet for a tap-in.

I thought he was fouled at the time, having seen a replay (on vine and only from 1 angle) I'm not so sure. I think he had a heavy touch and so left his leg in looming for the pen.

His touch to go round the keeper was poor and I am not sure he was going to get it, so he seems to have left a leg in to try and get the penalty. I was astonished at the decision at the time, but I think it is fair enough in hindsight.

He hadn't lost control of the ball though and little benefit in going down as past the keeper he had a simple tap in to score.

Was clearly looking for some contact & presumably got some albeit possibly very little.

Fortunately it had no impact on the outcome. this time.

We were on Dom iorfa's side of the pitch second half - he was immense, absolutely brilliant. Jack price and big kev really are a good team in centre mid, always on hand to help each other out, pass and move. Great game today.

It was a dive! No contact and he'd overrun it.

Missed out the quote from Parkin by mistake, the guy in front of me got Sky go on and clear on there no contact. Saw it in the pub afterwards too, no contact = dive. Probably one of the few decisions the ref actually got right.

If no contact then he's an idiot - he hadn't completely lost control of the ball with the keeper on the deck & no defenders that close he would have had time to try to get control back & slot it into an empty net.

It did look as if there was a bit of contact in real time, even if it was limited
